He has to go

He doesn't have to go..in fact I'm fairly sure he'll be here come August and the start of season 2016/17.

UTB!

I think it's clear it's not working, look at Chelsea, Mourinho is not a bad manager just couldn't get things going this season so he had to go, Hiddink comes in and is unbeaten for 11 games now. The same needs to happen with us and you never know, at the end of the day we are only 4 points off 6th.

Difference is that Chelsea haven't got 11+ players out of contract at the end of the season who know they ain't getting another one. You could bring in Guardiola and this lot still wouldn't put in the graft.

Im seriously in a quandry because I want to keep faith with a manager at some point & dont want to be a sacking club like chelsea but then 12th in league 1 is a catastrophe. But a lack of patience was a big fault under clough as everyday that goes by im realising we shouldve stuck. So dont want to make same mistake twice

Its one of the toughest calls our Kev has got to make.

. Get the kids in , why else did he bring rookies on tonight when chasing a game . A statement of intent .

UTB

Sorry, but THOSE kids will get us relegated next season.

Play the kids by all means - not when we go a goal down to the league leaders and we bring 2 (not ready) kids and Nyron Nosworthy mk 2.

Poor substitutions by Adkins (again)

UTB

But why would they be coasting when they know that promotion would at least raise their value and probably give them a chance at another club? Surely its in the players' interests to give their all

Coasting plus lack of confidence in my opinion. They've been able to talk to other clubs since January, wouldn't surprise me if a few have already started those conversations. They're probably all off to Portsmouth.

Up until now I've been against changing manager yet again, but the last two games have made me change my opinion.
Adkins is clueless. It's March and we're still dicking around with personnel and formation changes. Player recruitment is a joke. We may as well get a unicorn in to dig for magic beans under the centre circle. The soundbites are just getting more embarrassing by the week as the final play-off place disappears out of reach. Incredibly we are still only 4 points behind 6th place, but it may as well be 40.
I salute every single one of the Blades fans still turning up to watch this shower. At the moment it's the only thing I can think of that we can be remotely proud of.
How about rolling the dice - push Nigel "upstairs" to a DoF role where he can't do any damage, and give Deano a go with the first team. Wouldn't cost us anything in compensation and we couldn't perform much worse than the last two games, could we?

Adkins's constant (& ineffective) tinkering becomes more & more baffling.

Just stick to what you believe in.
Does he still believe in anything? Is he just getting desperate?

Its one of the toughest calls our Kev has got to make.

Couldnt agree more & im delighted im not mccabe. Because he's dammed if he does, damned if hes doesnt. I guess answer comes do we trust him with summer overhaul. If he does go I would like a guy who has united links. To get some fight back in this squad. even Warnock at the moment sounds good idea. Maybe rven my choice last may Brian Deane with a good record in Norway

I keep going from being adament he should leave, to then thinking the problem is that the players simply aren't good enough so we should give him a full season next season to show his worth. That being said I'm not 100% confident I could trust him to oversee the huge clearout and recruit the right type of players needed this summer.

If he did go though who in their right mind would want to take this job on? I honestly can't think of anybody out there other than Wilder who'd be available and willing to give this a shot.

Here we go again, lets all just fuck this season right off. Let adkins build a team he wants over the summer and lets start again. He inherited a load of utter clusterfucks.Judge him at the end of next season, he came in late pre season and wanted to have a proper look and give everyone a chance. He knows what is required by now i think....a whole new team. Let him build HIS team.

The players do not want to play for Adkins
We have no shape
No passion
He changes the players
He changes the shape
He changes the formation
Yet still we look a rag rag outfit with no idea.
I hear that some of the players do not respect him, initially thought it was due to them big being offered new contracts but it's more likely to be due to him being useless.

We have to find someone who has the payers respect and someone who can galvanise the support.
I was always against changing again, but God after tonight it has confirmed that he is not the man for the job!
Yeh man but they are at peace in their heads and their yang and yang are so in balance.

He's bought Jonathon Forte............twice

One thing I can't stand about BM is how everyone on there starts a new thread if they want to comment.

I find this site a much better medium to discuss the Blades, it just dilutes the debate if its all spread over 8/9 threads instead of being in really good one.
Haven't you already posted that exact same thing in another thread? Is there really any need to post it again?

this is mainly Clough's squad and they weren't exactly pulling up trees for him either (cup run glory or threat of humiliation at Swindon excluded). Can't keep changing managers till they find one they decide they'd like to like to play for. Fuck em - time to break this squad up.

You cant just exclude cup runs , in the play offs and 12 game unbeaten runs. It was a million times better this is awful and the additions he has made apart from Sharp have made it even worse.

Let's say, Adkins goes.

Does anyone really believe that these "Chairmen" can get it right with the next appointment?
In hindsight, every one has been a failure, all of different levels of failure.

It wasn't Adkins who signed up all the players who's contracts end this season? Who would that've been?
No matter who was here this season, that's what they would have had to deal with.

Get rid of the players who it seems don't really care enough about Sheffield United.
It's us, the supporters who'll be here long after they've all gone, players, managers, staff.
Next season, no matter who's in charge, those that will be searching for new contracts, they should all be gone.
A new, hopefully improved starting XI with just those who deserve to be here.

You've got this upside down.

The players need to earn the managers respect, even before they earn ours.

But the fact of the matter is that they respect nothing and nobody. Their attitude stinks and no manager should pander to that or their precious ego's.

Adkins would be a success at any other club in this division, the problem lies with us. He isn't failing us. This joke of a club at boardroom and dressing room level are failing him.

Don't know if it's a Berks (it means Berkshire BTW) thing but I agree with Berks Blade.

It was a million times better

it wasn't - it really wasn't. Ok cup runs were good, an unbeaten run in the 3rd division, yes that was nice for a while, but that's all it was - nice for a while and lead to nothing.

Wait, what exactly do you think a DoF does?

edit - missed a chunk of the quote

Sorry but since he come in, all he done is take away them play off away from us. The whole board are twa@ . Get a proper manager who knows what Sheff United means .

Anyone who trusts Adkins with a wide scale clear out and the subsequent mass recruitment operation in the summer is doing nothing but kidding themselves. The warning signs have been there in big writing from his early days, to ignore them and risk something as important as that is foolish at the very least.

It's a clear out, a real chance to overhaul and bring in the right players. It needs to be overseen by someone with a clue. This guy has proven time and time again that not only does he not know how to bring in the right players, he hasn't an ounce of a clue on substitutions/tactics/team selections/formations or absolutely anything else to do with managing a football club either.

We won't sack him. Why? Because it's the right thing to do and has been for months. I can only hope he sees a micron of sense, does the honourable thing and walks away. It will genuinely make my year if he does.

Its as simple as this: we either spend the money on replacing the out of contract players or the manager. Blades' fans - be careful what you wish for! If you think that the manager is getting a professional level of effort and performance from these players, then your seeing a different game to me. Tonight he tried 352 and 442 and we were outrun and outfought in both systems. I've never publicly criticised an individual player in my life, but Paul Coutts tonight was an utter disgrace, for the second time in his last three games. When we have fifty odd points I would release all the out off contract players and start playing the kids. I'd also read the riot act to any under contract players who aren't pulling their weight. Whatever happens it mustn't result in contract extensions for the wasters. If you don't want to play for us f*** off!

I keep seeing references to the likes of Collins and McEverley being offered new contracts and wonder where the hell this is coming from.

My guess is that there are two camps in the squad and Adkins isn't strong enough to sort it.

Clough's old boys are a powerful presence at the club, allied with a few who aren't bothered due to being out of contract....Adkins has started weeding them out but only so much could be done. This isn't about tactics and substitutions. You can get away with it easier away from home, but when they start bringing their egos to the lane, the manager has to read the riot act and expose them.
