That means nothing. You see Reed effortlessly hit the back of the net in that situation and in a game he couldn't hit water if he fell out of a boat.

Sharp is on his way to becoming the only player I'd keep, but if we keep creating fek all for him then there's no point in even doing that.

Made an excellent save in the first half from a deflected shot low to his left.

I thought he looked frightened stiff and wanted to hide. Someone at the Academy tells me he runs the U21 games so that's proabably another young man whose careeer is now ruined at BDTBL.

He looked a bit nervy but like I said, didn't think he was any worse than Flo or Coutts in there. Giving him, DCL, Reed and Adams game time is surely a worthwhile experience whilst we have nothing to play for (let's be honest- we don't). They'll all be here next season and all need games under their belt to improve so might as well give them that game time now like we did with Tonge and Jags after the battle of Bramall Lane.

So how does that work? We give the lad a run out for 25 minutes and it's the death knell for his career?

There is always going to be an element of sink or swim involved with youth players, what he's done at U21 level doesn't count for anything more than opening the door to first team opportunities. It would be lovely to think we could blood them in better circumstances, but if we were going for the top two he'd most likely have no chance of a look in so it's good luck for Whiteman and the like to get their chances.

Now I certainly wouldn't advocate putting any more than 3 kids in the team, but they should be able to make an impression and push for a regular place.
