yes i was there last night sat next to deano's vip table there where two dickheads at his table talking most of the time when deane and agana where on stage spoit my night total prats

Interestingly for the 6th round at home to Tottenham the crowd was 22k due, according to the notes, to fog and crowd problems v Leeds. Hard to imagine this would put off 46,000 people from attending.

Between 1.15 and 1.48 in below video. Empty spaces in the corner between Kop and John St and cant see fans in Cherry Street

I was on that table and I think I know who you mean (were they facing away from the stage?)

I'd have loved to have gone to this but couldn't manage it last night. I've said on other threads the "evening with" events are all great.

John Garrett normally compares and it's usually a fundraiser for the museum. The Morgan one was a bit different and it was a different charity and was held down the pub. Did I hear Foxy say this was a different organiser? It was certainly more expensive.

The more recent "evening with" events in the pubs have been put on by MatchdaySupport/SUSA and not Sheffield United. As is the upcoming evening with Kozzy and Browny.

The ones in Legends were organised by John Garrett.

Of late, the commercial dept./Redtooth appear to have noticed how successful they have been and have looked to host a few themselves with Martin Green doing the talking.

I was at that Palace game as well, I should have gone in the away end with my Dad, but I kicked off because I wouldn't be with the united fans so we ended up on the John Street terrace.

1985/86 if I remember correctly and it was a cold night
1986/87. I was there too!

Was Martin green the host?

Please feel free to pass on any interesting snippets that were revealed.

Deane said he knew he would be sold after first year of his new 3 year contract and so did Bassett.

I was also talking to someone at the club who said. That NA is still 'cagey' around people, they are still waiting for him to put his stamp on the club, owners have told him as much and to be more direct in interviews.

He could start by telling the owners how little he respects their opinion. :)

Did Deano seem happy with this? As in he maybe realised if he wanted to amount to anything he'd probably have to leave our tin pot club for one that didn't seek midfielders from Sutton Utd as a rule rather than an exception despite being top flight? (Not slagging off Paul Rogers at all here, I love a non-league player given a chance story) but by then Deano must've known he could at least replicate the form somewhere slightly better and get in the England reckoning.

Also interesting as I thought Bassett always went with the line that he was sold while Harry was on holiday.

Hope this is not their excuse to pull the trigger at the end of the season.

If my memory serves, it was something along the lines of ; Harry asked Deane to sign a 3 year contract, told him that the likely hood was we wouldn't be able to keep him beyond the 1st year etc. it didn't come across as Deane wanting to leave. It was obvious to me that he treat his football as a career (as you should) but he did tell me The Blades are the only club he feels a connection with.

Also interesting were his thoughts on the McDonald era; was offered a 2 year contract but signed a 1 with the option of a second as it was big wages and he wanted to safeguard the club (could also read; keep his potions open). Seems that McDonald bought the players he did with the floating of the club in mind once the shares were sold the fire sale started. HE DOES NOT LIKE CHARLES GREEN.

That 1986 game was all ticket, a novelty at the time which kept the crowd down. We had 21000 for the Leeds game the year before when there was a lot of violence.

That season was the lowest for league attendances since the war, though our lowest average was the following year.

Thanks. I didn't realise about the all-ticket restriction.

I too recall that Palace game. A cold night indeed.

1-0 win the Palace game. Colin Morris penalty. Think he won two and missed the first and then scored the second one. George Wood the keeper if I recall? Wright and Bright may have been involved for Palace too as youngsters.

Beagrie missed the first one.

It was a good night and a sell out with lots more people there ,but I preferred the Kenworthy one personally ,a lot more intimate with just genuine Utd people there. The only thing better about Deane/Agana was the pie and peas :)
Agana was actually at the game yesterday about 6 seats further on our row ,John Garret was sat in the seat behind me.

There is a Kozluk and Brown one coming up end of March. Might try and go to that one if I can
