Anyone else on here go , it was a good night ,surprised Basset came under so much stick ,some interesting stuff. Anyway there was a quiz on attendances ,our table got 4 out of 10 ,see how many questions come back to me as I go through the day.
!st one was easy ,Who did Sheffield United get their record 68k attendance against at the lane.
Who got their record 28 k attendance this season.
Who has their record attendance against Sheff Utd.
Who in the 4 divisions has the lowest record attendance ,nobody got that I think ,but I know some smartarses will google it :)

Agana is hilarious isn't he?! What a great double act they make, Deane bouncing off Agana, just like old times!!

Mike Green was rubbish i thought, if wasn't for the personalities of the deadly duo it could have been a car crash!

A little disappointed they wouldn't give me a kiss at the photo stand but hey ho, i still love em!

Off the top of my head...... Leeds is the first one, no.2 Coventry? No idea for the third and I'll have a wild stab at Barnet for the last one

My Guesses

Who did Sheffield United get their record 68k attendance against at the lane.- Leeds
Who got their record 28 k attendance this season.- MK Dons (Franchise FC)
Who has their record attendance against Sheff Utd.- Rotherham
Who in the 4 divisions has the lowest record attendance ,nobody got that I think ,but I know some smartarses will google it :) - Dagenham and Redbridge

Managed 5 out of 10 with mate. Would have been 6 if he hadn't persuaded me it was Dagenham and redbridge rather than AFC Wimbledon for last one tho!

I thought record crowd would have been Darlington ,was a bit miffed actually ,checked this morning they got 21 k in 1961 v Bolton

Which club ,not in the premiership got a record crowd of over 75 k. I got that one :)

Always thought Bassett used to bully Deano a bit ( in a 'good way') as Deano was/is 'a nice guy'

You can see it a bit in one of the 'United' series when he asks/tell's him who's 'the better striker' bit at half time...

Record attendance v us, as others have said, is Rotherham in 1952. 25,000 in Millmoor!

My Dad, 12 years old at the time, went to the game. Along with hundreds of other kids he was lifted out of the crowd and watched the game sitting on the touch line behind one of the goals.

My Grandad was at the Leeds game, to complete the Revolution- record crowd connection.

The 68k was 5th round FA cup v Leeds in Feb 1936 and we won 3-1.

Interestingly for the 6th round at home to Tottenham the crowd was 22k due, according to the notes, to fog and crowd problems v Leeds. Hard to imagine this would put off 46,000 people from attending.

Another one that interests me is the home league game v Leeds in 1986 watched by 9,158. We finished 7th in the Championship that year. However, this was at the height of the recession - If you can't afford it you can't go, something that clubs should never lose sight of.

That 1986 game was all ticket, a novelty at the time which kept the crowd down. We had 21000 for the Leeds game the year before when there was a lot of violence.

That season was the lowest for league attendances since the war, though our lowest average was the following year.

I was at the Palace game that season which was the lowest post war crowd.

I wasn't - it was one of only 2 home games my Dad and I missed that season (the other was Leeds).

Which when you get think about it is one of the reasons it was the lowest gate - we were in the 7-8000 hardcore at the time and we didn't make it.

The Palace game was on a Tuesday night as well, as you say the 'all ticket' would have put fans off the Leeds game, that was the era you could get up Saturday morning and go to game without the palaver of queuing up for tickets booking etc.

Only 9, 000 plus witnessed the 5 4 v Brighton in 1989. Promotion on the agenda yet again. How did the lads rate Bassett last night?

I was at that Palace game as well, I should have gone in the away end with my Dad, but I kicked off because I wouldn't be with the united fans so we ended up on the John Street terrace.

1985/86 if I remember correctly and it was a cold night

There were 12 and a half thousand there that day against Brighton. We didn't have a 4 figure home crowd in the league between January 1989 (Gillingham) and September 1995 (Charlton).

The last sub 10,000 league gate at the Lane was for the Crewe game in April 2000.

I was there last night and had the pleasure of sitting with Brian throughout the meal. Thoroughly nice guy, good views on life in general. We have baby daughters of a similar age so ended up sharing baby photos! Great night

Martin Green was awful and Agana held it all together

Was Martin green the host?

I'd have loved to have gone to this but couldn't manage it last night. I've said on other threads the "evening with" events are all great.

Please feel free to pass on any interesting snippets that were revealed.

John Garrett normally compares and it's usually a fundraiser for the museum. The Morgan one was a bit different and it was a different charity and was held down the pub. Did I hear Foxy say this was a different organiser? It was certainly more expensive.
