Biggest embarrassment to the club today

Not sure where I said frightening people was fun. Just saying it was blatantly obvious for 10 mins previous where it might happen. Self-police and move away. Seems to me every away game now we have a load of young lads in the concourse at half time creating an atmosphere/being pricks who should be strung up/somewhere inbetween (depending on your point of view). Everyone can see them. Don't go near them if you don't like it.

Why don't THEY just fuck off somewhere else?
Why should the majority have to bow down to a group of twats who think it's "fun".
Would like to see/hear them at BDTBL act that way or is it just a bit of fun, banter, no harm done?

I saw someone say "it's one of the biggest problems with the club" for example. The general reaction on here has been over the top. Trouble at the match never used to get all this. Nobody is saying it's acceptable, it's just as though it's in fashion to be as outraged as you can about as many things as you can find.

There are two things here:

1. Blade on Blade - this happens too often and is becoming a common occurrence. It's beyond the pale.
2. Causing criminal damage and intimidating staff at League 1 clubs. Many clubs struggle to stay alive.Going out with the mentality that you'll smash and air-con unit or knick a pitch cover is just bizarre.

There's always been scumbags at football matches but times have changed yet it all seems to be coming back.

You weren't there you don't understand ,it affected the fans the players ,the ref everyone yet most just wanted a game of football.
This acting pissed on the concourse bullshit is a habit that has spread and will end in tragedy. All clubs nobheads are doing it ,and although it is only probably a short term problem as it will die out it is sickening to the everyday fan. Most before the kick off were kids of about 15 acting pissed up and hard in front of their mates ,stare one out as I did when he barged into me today ( Im on a bit of a short fuse with the old back atm ) and they absolutely poo their pants and go running to their pathetic mob sheepishly. They are total wankers and some poor fucker serving bovrils will cop it soon ,its only a matter of time ,maybe not Utd but t will happen.

Megalike Pete! Jeez. Fans fault again. Christ so it kicked off a bit and we nicked their duvet. Fucking hell ban them all. This is still clinging on to being a working class dare I say working mens pastime. If you go to football expect it to get a bit "blue".

No one wants to see people hurt but jesus things boiled over a bit today so the fuck what?? It was nothing. If u wanted no part of it move away it was all right down the front there was plenty of space behind.

There was one smoke bomb in the concourse today at half time and there's a guy on twitter on about crying children "covered in smoke" (not sure how u get covered in smoke - and he called it a flare which is inaccurate) I was stood next to the smoke bomb area for 10 mins previous before it went off. I was stood there cos it was a "good laugh" (yea sorry I like stuff like that on away days and yes I probably am old enough to know better). It was obvious if someone had pyro amongst them it was going off there. If I was asthmatic/scared of red smoke I would have moved away from that area cos I knew what might happen. Why can't other people do this?
I bet you are really proud of yourself tonight aren't you ? Proper hard and that standing next to a smoke bomb ,what a guy.

Jesus Christ... Some of you lot won't be happy until every ounce of passion is omitted from the club.

Today was a slight improvement on the pitch but we are still absolute tosh. The reaction was warranted and as for rooting people out for throwing tea bags and milk around... Get a fucking grip.

My 12-year-old son was caught in the middle of the action today and by all evidence was very frightened and upset. The Rochdale stewards took him and his dad away from the fights and hostilities, and led him to the United dressing room, telling Adkins: "Here is one of your lads who was scared by what is happening over there". All credit to Adkins, he spent time to console him, took selfies on my child's phone, asked him who his favourite player was and fetched him (Billy Sharp) to come and say hello and give some comfort as well. Billy took the shirt off his back, signed it and gave it to my son. All this consoled my child somewhat - normally, it would have been the highlight of his week! - but until he went to bed, he wouldn't stop repeating who punched whom, what words were shouted, how hostile people came across to be. And this comes from a child who holds a season ticket and goes to away matches at least once a month! In all honesty, I am starting to think that there may be better ways to organise his weekends. And I am not thinking about the poor United scoring record (I don't think my child remembers anything different in his lifetime!), but about wanting to keep him away from some spiteful mob that I would not characterise as a 'community'. This, I think, is sad.

Hope he's ok hope getting Billy's shirt will mean he's not put off coming to United and indeed will reinforce his support! I guess people including children are different. I go with a mate and his 16yo son. Been going away with these particular people since we fell into this division. Oldham away being our first trip together. He must have been 11 then. Looking back at him as an 11yo I can't see him have being scared by what happened today.

5th season in L1, a pathetic 10th position and 11 defeats before the end of Feb. And the biggest thing some on here have to complain about is our fans. Un-be-fucking-lievable
Law abiding Blades being threatened at a game by drunken thugs who are supposed to support the same team. If that isn't a big thing I find that unbelievable. The last half hour by the players was poor. The actions of some the fans was embarrassing and humiliating .

Yeah, in the bad old days of the 70's, no one chucked tea bags and milk around like F Troop or The ICF. Proper nawty.

Im going to go and chuck some tea bags a milk around now in the kitchen now while singing songs about Adam Johnson ,sound a great laugh ,you've talked me into it well done.

Were the aggressive fans looking for a fight and threatening our players. Word will go around and I am sure good players will not choose to join us this summer if they have contract offers from other clubs, Well done you utter twats!
No problem there because we don't sign good players

There's passion and there's being dick heads towards your fellow supporters and acting hard towards casual catering staff.

Give me passion all day long, it's pisses all over a waft of pink smoke and chucking fosters around singing about Adam Johnson because you've seen it on YouTube.

How many are actually acting prats to catering staff? 3, 4? Threatening other fans? 3, 4? And why is this happening? Doubt it's ever as one sided as the poor victims are making out.
There's nothing funny about the Adam Johnson situation and the chant is boring
Everyone else involved is literally just having fun. Some people play golf... That makes no sense to me

A working mans pastime, i take a 6 year old child to the matches, and can't take him away because if some fucking idiot decided to discharge a smoke bomb then he would be crying his eyes out and shit scared, so well done, you might want to call it a working mans pastime, but what you are doing is scaring a small child away from the game.

And before you go on spouting bullshit about what constitutes a good away day, I've been all over the country watching Sheffield United for over 20 years, drank a shitload of ale along the way, never always been a complete angel and there has been a lot of hi-jinks and scrapes along thw way but i've had some brilliant times along the way, but yet me, or none of my mates have ever felt the urge to be one of those total no pyro, no party mongs, never felt the need to go to clubs like Rochdale and fact like a failed football factory wannabe by smashing the place up.

Throwing tea bags and milk makes sense but playing golf doesn't? Okay.

Simple principle - there's a bunch of people who've spent £15-£20 to do something they enjoy for the afternoon.

Do what you need to do without spoiling theirs - particularly if they want the same thing you do.

I started going in the dark times when (if you were to believe the hype) football grounds were dangerous. As a 10-12 year old near what I now know to be 'dangerous' behaviour I never once felt intimidated.

The difference is respect. Dicking around is dicking around - but failing to realise that you're on the same side as the other 2-3000 who've spent their hard-earned in the faint hope of some enjoyment is just being a dick.

I remember standing back at Doncaster, moving out of the way and thinking I was that age once and never did we behave like that, but more importantly never would we be allowed to behave like that, not with your own. You only get the chance to knock me once.

Having a laugh with your mates does. Have a great Saturday night.

N.B. If you do not have any, I cannot be arsed to explain to you what it means to do so

It is sad.

I took my 9 year old to his first away game against Man Utd a little earlier this season and on the way home (tram from old trafford, train from picadilly) he had to witness some behaviour that i had trouble explaining to him. My original intention was to drive to that game and, in hindsight, i wish i had done.

I've been attending away games since i was 13 and i know what goes on, but being in that environment with my son gave me a whole new perspective on it and i won't be taking him to an away game for a while as a result. Truth is i have trouble inticing him to BDTDL for the home games these days.

My opinion is thus; SUFC away games are no place for children. What a depressing indictment that is.

Just to add another voice to this, I started taking my oldest to away games at around this age. His younger brother started going to home games when he was 2, he's now 8 and has never been to an away game, and almost certainly won't for a few more years. For exactly the same reasons.

Wonder how many members of this forum who are criticising the actions of these youths were around in the 1960's and 1970's and played an active part (indirectly or directly) in the violence on the kop as an away team tried to 'take the Shoreham'. Some of the violence that was around in those days was far greater than singing a ditty about Adam Johnson.

The exuberance of youth has gone on for generations. Young people as a species haven't changed. The only ones who have changed are us parents and grandparents. Try not to look back and say 'we never behaved like that.'

You can be sure that in 30 or 40 years time these youngsters will be communicating on S24SU and ringing Praise or Grumble to berate a new set of youths who have upset a tea lady at Sandygate Road or the Coach and Horses ground as we make our fifth attempt to get promoted from some Northern Counties League.

My then mates and me we're around and we have clean histories it's always been a minority who spoil it for everypne

it's hard to describe these kind of fans. They go home and away to support the Blades but what is it they enjoy the most, the football or just getting pissed with their mates and acting like twats?

Equating working class to acting like a prick? I'm proudly of working class stock but have never felt the need to throw drinks over people, set off smoke bombs or threaten people with violence for no reason. Justifying it on class grounds is ridiculous.

Why can't other people do this?

Because they shouldn't have to.

I'm really glad that a few have spoken up on this thread to defend the obnoxious bullies that shamed us yesterday.

Until I saw their point of view, I simply couldn't understand why people would act this way and why others would defend it.

It's has now been clarified. Basically - We will do what ever we please because we are selfish and thick. And if you don't like it that's just tough.

We will do what we want, when we want and fuck you and your children if it frightens or upsets you, or you get punched, or get a lung full of smoke.

Why should we care about that, we are having a really good laugh at others expense. Oh and did I forget to say - fuck you.
