Time for protest, meeting Saturday

The Tennis Ball thing wouldn't work as the club would get wind of it, and stop and search everyone going in to the ground and ban anyone found with tennis balls.

A kid at my school was supposed to have brought a box of French bangers back from a school trip by shoving them up his arse so where there's a will...

How many are you expecting in terms of numbers on Saturday? Like I said I'm up for it.
probably too many to fit in fanny's, we are getting together to plan a protest at the Oldham game and how we go about it. We wont be able to please everyone but doing something is surely better than doing nothing.

Totally agree. I'll be in attendance. Glad to see the numbers are expected to be good.

Insults against those who go to games! I go, I went last night. Tell you what lets spin this, what do you propose we do?
I honestly don't know but calling yourself and me a Happy Clapper isn't the solution. Lets decide what we are protesting about first before we protest. My gripe is at the players and manager at this moment in that order ,but other than shouting and making points on here I don't know what else I can do, just keep going and enjoying the day out which I always do.

I'm all for getting the message out there, but how much attention will a walkout in the ground of for example 100/200 people that are scattered all around the ground generate? Wouldn't getting everyone together in one place and having a form of protest then get the point across more? Somewhere like the car park/players entrance before or after kick off?

Dan just tell me who are you protesting at and why or what for.

Will there be anyone starting protest threads if we beat Port Vale on Saturday?

The problems, The board, the manager, the players, seem to be exacerbated after a defeat.
Were there (m)any malcontents after the 1-0 on Saturday?

Don't go stocking up on felt-tips just yet.

I'm going to just turn up 5 mins before halftime v port vale, then leave with 20 mins to go. I'll probably be pissed...

This is to reflect the way that Adkins, supported by Phipps, the Prince and Big Kev, has got these fucking idiots in shitty white shirts playing

Its a difficult and complex situation but to me the board need to know the extent of the fans feelings, they will find out next season when 20k turns into 14-15k, then to 13k if we get a poor start. Its clear the players are not playing for the club, the fans or the manager, they are professionals and should give 100% but its clear as day they are not interested and have one eye on summer moves or leaving the club. I know for fact that the players are not impressed with our manager.

How do you know all this for a fact?

Let's name the players

Here in Germany, in response to all seater stadium proposals, the fans remained silent pre game and for the first 13 mins. The sight and sound of Dortmund scoring a goal and being met with silence, was truly effective. If we, the fans, remained silent and unfurled a banner saying, "the blades are nothing without the fans", it would be a start. However, It does rely on all Blades sticking together. Will that happen? Or we could do it 1980's style. Smash the ground up, kick each other's, heads in and wreck the pitch

Every Saturday in the football pages... but I take your point.. however it would be shared through Twitter and Facebook etc. and they would pick up on it as an interesting story to run with... the only interesting thing to happen at the Lane this season!
We get a postage stamp sized write up these days.

McCabe took over in 2001 didn't he? How about a walk out on 20:01 as we all sing McCabe out. He has totally fucked this club up and now is his time to be held accountable. It will be early in the game for him to get the message and with renewal time soon too it should hopefully force his hands to sell the rest of his share.

Be sitting silent for a long time then

They do need to know. Pointing out failings since Robson which has been done for years has changed nothing.

Finding out with a stand up protest early in the game is, in my opinion and others, a better bet than one where people will be leaving anyway or we are chasing a late win ( you'll have to bear with me on that one obviously) I'd suggest it's not thought out properly.

And no, I don't have the answers but I'm sure Not many do, and shouting about the past isn't going to be the answer.

Whatever I thought of BIFA, their campaign was to get Brearley to put the club up for sale at a reasonable price, pretty much a one reason campaign. If anyone thinks berating McCabe with a list of his failures will do the trick, crack on. I'd think approaching him asking him what the ongoing plan is, is a much better start.

Gates are going to drop anyway, protest or not, that's going to concentrate his mind a lot more than someone new slagging him off about Robson for the umpteenth time.

Any chance of seeing your letter to him, to see where you are coming from?

I disagree with the OP. A protest will not achieve any worthwhile good.

I can not believe for one moment that the players set out to perform badly, that the manger doesn't want to win and that the board wish to continue injecting money into the club for this to be lost. It does not make sense.

I was there last night and it was a terrible performance, shocking. It somehow seemed worse than Gillingham and that was bad. Gigg Lane is a grotty place, the weather didn't help pouring with rain from the start. A miserable evening.

The group to my left were moaning before the game had even started. Shouting abuse at just about every player, in particular Brayford - it was embarrassing.

Gaw'd knows what possesses some of our fans to attend matches when clearly they just want to moan and find fault............ Brayford - "you f******g useless c***" just about every time he touched the ball.

Now is the time to get behind the team, for better or worse, protesting and moaning will do no good at all and is tiresome.

You ever considered the possibility that these fans dont turn up to moan and slag players ?
That they travel across the pennines in the wind and rain hoping to see the team.they love play well or at least try but after a decade of watching players phone in their days work they have lost the will to get behind the team as it doesnt seem to be doing much ?

We are having a meeting on Saturday at 1pm in Fannys (lord nelson) upstairs to discuss a planned protest. This will be a peaceful protest against the club has a whole, we need route and branch change.

Our main idea is to stage a walk out on 84 minutes at the Oldham game in protest at 6 years in League one. But we are open to other idea's, if you can't come along you can post your idea's/views on here and we will discuss them as a group.

The time has come, 8 years of decline and we have not bottomed out yet, please support us, we love United but can't just sit on our hands and blindly turn up week in week out.

Save our Blades 'Stand up United' group.

Finally Blades supporters have decided to start taking some action.

I know you said the protest will be against the club as a whole and I agree with this but leave Adkins out of it, I know he's not impressed us this season but it can't always be the manager's fault, ultimately it's those people that run the club so they are the ones you should be targeting.

The board have sold NA a dud and he's fallen for it so I imagine he's just as disheartened as the supporters with the way this season has panned out so far, there's no way he would have agreed to become our manager if he knew he wasn't going to be backed!!!

I know his last job at Reading was unsuccessful, but he could've easily gone to another Championship club rather than the utter shambles that is Sheffield United.

I thought we were too far from the pitch in our big dug out to make the players hear until the end ,I was on the far righthand side ,but besides that ,I quite like Gigg Lane. proper old fashioned ground in a suburban area of terraced houses in Lancashire ,like Rochdale ,give me that as a football experience rather than new soulless stadia in out of town precincts. Last time I went I was in the main stand and Len fairclough was sat just along from us ,it hasn't changed that much ,not a criticism ,although the M62 is a lot busier than last time and we only just made the kick off with those hold ups.

McCabe has lived through the BIFA ego trippers and the fans groups where people scream stupid claims at him, call him a crook etc. he won't start off with any dialogue. If I'm right, this group wants to make a point, that the fanbase or a large percentage of them, are getting to the end of their tether. A stand up slow handclap is a good stArting point and unless it turns into the rape of the Sabine women as Silent expects it might make them think. Which is always a starting point. It's all well and good U.S. all moaning on a forum, when it's inside the ground and peaceful, it's a different matter.

Bifa ego trippers ?, explain that one Sean.

Could've picked any post but stopped at this one.

Regardless of what those terms are?

No, not any terms. But I'm guessing this what the meeting is about? Everybody has their individual set of grievances and ideas for a way forward which is why nobody can claim to be thefans' representative. We need broad agreement on what we want.

"I'm pissed off because we were crap at Bury" does not mean 20000 fans want wholesale change.

And if some if the players are not impressed with the manager - almost certainly true - then I suggest changing those players and keeping the manager.
