But had it on radio sheff and one thing i notice Keith mentioning that our defense was quite solid in particular neil collins which is something he always said isnt good enough seeing the likes of reed and Calvert lewin in the team as well and it sounds like both of them had their share of good moments in the match does anybody who went to match have anything to add to this

We started really brightly. To me that team is a concern when the opposition have the ball but Donny were abysmal.

Long a decent save near post, stayed on his line when he should have come out, distribution not great. Not much to do.

Back four ok. They seemed to be targetting our right.

McEveley was so late with one tackle he didn't even get booked. Did some very good work 1v1 last man.

Reed pulled the strings early on.

Two or three moments of physical comedy from Hammond. Some good stuff as well. And I do wonder if he's organiser in chief.

Baxter's pass for the goal was inch perfect. Obviously not an athlete but clearly committed to the cause.

Jam. Good runs and crosses. I thought he passed responsibility once or twice. He wasn't alone.

DCL I thought was poor. Started well missed and missed a back post chance. Heading means he is an outlet but often nodded it out for a gk. This aimless heading on should appease the Conor Sammon hating masses though ;-) Potential but no more.

Adams. Man of the match?

Full of energy and imagination. Direct. Still got a lot to learn and doesn't hold the ball up well always.

But great finish and one turn, run, and pass set up Reed to miss a bigger sitter than the Higdon family sofa.

As usual, I'd agree with that. It wasn't the greatest spectacle was it?
Reed won't get a better chance to score than that.
Donny were dire, showed nothing going forward, relatively easy afternoon for our much maligned back four.
Thought you were a bit harsh on DCL, thought he did ok, perhaps a little nervous, nice run inside in first half that caused them problems.
Be interesting to see if NA makes any changes for Bury after that.

Brilliant moment first half. We'd worked a few spaces on the edge of the box but no-one would have a go.

"Shoot ffs" was the general sentiment around me.

Good run first half.

He was.1v1 out wide at one point and didn't even try to beat his man. Maybe he doesn't have the pace.

Did look like he was trying too hard sometimes.

Agree with most of the above..Reedy got on the ball and for the most part passed it well...even got forward and beyond the forward a few times,and should have scored after great work by Che.
Overall Long didn't have a great deal to do,but for the most part steady.
Back line looked slightly nervy at times first half,but on the whole a comfortable performance...Reed,Che and Baxter were the stand outs for me.

I thought DCL had a good game. He wasn't afraid of running forward with the ball when he had the ball and thought he showed glimpses of decent skill and speed. I think he has good potential to grow and improve and given the chance I would rather have him in the team than woolford or baxter playing on a wing. Think him and cambell ryce on the wings adds skill and pace to the side and think it wild work great with a similar set up as today but with sharp up front and adams playing just behind him. Dropping baxter to the bench and coming on later on in the game if we need a bit of a creative player in midfield to change the game.

Goes against the grain but I thought Collins actually had a really good game today. Can't remember him losing a header and although their forwards were virtually anonymous, that must in part be due to our defending against them. Saw him anticipate and cut a few balls out, nearly scored early with a header against the bar and a couple of other headers on target too. Credit where credits due an' all that.

I thought the defence did well, but weren't up against much. Further forward Baxter, JCR and Reed played well but I didn't reckon much to DCL, thought he was too lightweight. Adams was awful up to his goal, felt there was a lot of naivety in his play, but fair play he improved in the second half.

I would say if we put that team out against better teams I fear the long standing problem at the back (ie lack of a dominant centre half) would be exposed again.

Went today. chuffed with the win, obviously, but we never looked like killing the game off which we need to start doing. Even at 1nil we were only a bad pass or sloppy mistake away from giving away 2 points again. Lots of positives though, thought jay had a solid game and showed real class with some deft chested passes back to George under pressure. Thought we looked better in midfield and comfortable on the ball, without wanting to be harsh on basham it's like playing with 10 men at times and today we always had another option with reed in there and although he missed he got in position to score which bash rarely does. Hope we can build on this now bury and port vale should be 6points really.

I feel certain Adkins will bring Mcnulty back for next season - unless Pompey offer silly money, which I do not think they have.

Agreed, Adkins has given too many a chance for too long, but he did say pre-season that he would do that - it just hasn't worked out as Adkins has hoped, which for me Adkins failed to see early.
