What part of 'Bruce is a total wanker' don't you understand?

I'm not talking about our board, as bad as they are.

I am slagging off a tosspot who threw his toys out and walked out on us. Then walked out on Wigan. Then walked out on Palace, Then walked out on Wigan again.

ISC

Even though I agree with all that I have to say he's not as big a tosser as that little shithouse Adrian Heath.

If promises have been broken or people have not been doing enough to bring his targets in then I would not be surprised to see him walk away.
Exactly Bladesman he would have asked for certain guarantee s or probably not taken the job. That's what contracts are for and if he was lied to (broken contract)he would be able to walk with a financial pay off.He is still here and will continue to improve the squad hopefully in the loan window. No point in recruiting squad fillers we have enough of those,it's players who will make a difference we need and so far. That's eluded us. But Adkins will keep trying.

"Keep" trying? Doesn't he have to start to be able to do that?

McCabe gets slammed for being in Brussels all the time, and now he gets slammed for watching an U21 game in Sheffield instead of in his office phoning clubs to enquire about the availibility of players.

I don't think you can slag him off for watching the U-21's on deadline day. Presumably he has a mobile phone, and would be able to receive a text or call the moment there was movement on the transfer front.

That would make more sense if we signed some one. Or even attempted to.

How was he expecting this said 'movement' if he wasn't doing anything about it?

This board planned and succeeded to spend nothing and sign no one.

Jim the Prince and McCabe are believed to know nothing about football so why would anyone want them involved other than to tell Sadkins how much he could spend then write the cheques?

Because other than identifying players, managers have very little to do with the mechanics of signing players.

And neither of them do know anything about football.

That's Greens job isn't it?

No idea. Phipps was asked this yesterday and blustered his way through a non answer.

As he always does Pete. I doubt McCabe has ever been involved in transfer negotiations, he's simply appointed half wits to do that job in the past. I think his remit is to be the one who wields the axe when the latest failure needs to go. Despite twitter FACTS I doubt Jim has either. Imagine if he'd been spotted in Brussels eating moules and frites on a Monday?

Has no one on here ever watched Groundhog Day?

Ps bit unfair to Jim. "Always" on the radio etc. face to face he's surprisingly forthcoming, (unless your some abusive dickhead whose spittle is settling on his beard)

If Adkins walks, we've got serious problems. The current situation must make it very tempting. So far he's been able to sign two players plus take on three loans. I would love to know how he was ever tempted to Bramall Lane unless false promises of support were given.

So far he's had no option but to give total support to a bunch of players I'm sure would not be his choice. He told us he was going to access whats already here then rebuild. Lets face it he had absolutely no option but to go with what was here and give the impression it was his decision. The players he's managed to bring in on loan were probably the best of a bad bunch available for a loan deal. (Having said that I personally think Hammond is doing an excellent job).

So with a team of average at best Div 3 standard players with the possible exception of two (Brayford and Sharp) he has us competing for the playoffs. For me thats incredible, I would not have been in the least bit surprised if this team had been down at the bottom.

Its down to Adkins that this team is where it is. He's not been allowed to sign any new players and should be thanked and congratulated on what he's done so far. I don't believe theres a manager around, who would be prepared to work for our board, and would be any more successful.

Get behind the guy, give him 100% support and hope he stays. Until the board moves out, theres no way anyone else would do any better.

1st chance to be alone + reflect on building a team + handling the pressure stress expectation frustration of the January Transfer Window.

Is this code? Does he mean.....1st chance, to be a loan?

I think that's what he means? Come on Blades, BIG loan coming in next week!

Promotion is back on!

JTW Slams shut! Loan window wafts open!

Hopefully it means he is analysing his own performance thus far and arrives at the conclusion he should be performing a lot better.

I think he expected to be given more backing once he had seen the squad during pre-season. Obviously some players were injured but I think he thought he would have more takers for the players he didn't want.

It says it all when the likes of Oldham and Port Vale won't take our cast offs. That said Portsmouth can't get enough of them!

We all know there are deficiencies in the squad but the majority of them were part of a team that actually secured a playoff spot last season. We have lost JM, and NA has been able to bring in five players you would have thought we would be better than we are last year, results say we aren't , We can blame the owner/board, and they shoulder a good deal of the blame, but IMO NA has to take responsibility for poor recruitment and tactics that have resulted in us playing catch up. IMO the minimum requirement this year was a playoff place

Sounds like a man on the edge.

Sounds like a man on the edge.

I thought that. No sign of his usual positivity. While I don't think he's done a particularly good job so far, if he left we would be in a whole. Even the usual likes of Wilder and Tango wouldn't join us, given they're in promotion hunts themselves.

No idea. Phipps was asked this yesterday and blustered his way through a non answer.

This answer by Jim prompted my thread on recruitment strategy and processes. I wouldn't be surprised if this is the major thing holding the club back. It seems unless you have mega bucks the importance of scouting and negotiating cannot be overstressed. Successive managers seem to have been let down?

I think it would be great if he walked, then we wouldnt lose any money having to sack him, we'd then have a new manager who can hopefully motivate the players and hed have a chance to build a fresh squad in the summer. Adkins hasnt shown any good managerial skills that Ive seen so why not roll the dice again. People keep banging on like hes the only option but he isnt

Sacking managers, apart from Weir, after less than two seasons in charge, hasn't done us any good in the past. I think the consensus is to give him this season and next wherever we finish this year

It would be far from great if he walked.
He has just started rebuilding after Clough, it has taken this long to assess, and start moving players on.

More will leave in the summer, then he will start to bring in more of his own men, and move the club forward.

If Adkins was to walk now, we would have to start to whole process again.
We have the right man, not the right team.

Disagree, the way managers work they take the job with promises and the board don't deliver. Hang on in there, if results go against you, keep quiet get sacked, get paid everything owing to the end of your contract. Get another job confidentially blaming the board.

Weir walked with a rumoured £2m for a few months work and walked into a lucrative job. Nice.

Adkins would be perfectly justified in walking. If I were him I'd be asking for all sorts of assurances.

Adkins would be perfectly justified in walking.

That's assumes he was made lots of promises that have been broken.

He might have assured the board he could do it with one or two strategic signings, they got them and he's failed to deliver!

We can't just assume they let him down even if it fits with past custom and practice.

Just sayin

Just heard Adkins interview, and to be fair I thought it was his best interview to date, but no doubt some will just say its spin or long winded answers. I for one think we need to keep our frustrations to the likes of this forum and come Saturday we must be positive as fans and get behind the team, which we've not done much of late albeit what's been offered has been poor, more so than good. Adkins did hint that one of his targets might come on loan, so here's hoping that will happen.

I also hope that Adams is given a go again, because he can make a real difference, when on form.

This thread is fucking comical. 5 pages because an adkins tweet with people twisting it whichever way they see fit that it suits their agenda.

yes, I am sure adkins is pissed off with him employers so decides to send a tweet to display his annoyance and he is definitely likely to walk off the back of it or even better, we should fire him and all because we didnt panic buy a load of dross in the transfer window. ITS THE END OF THE WORLD.

Don't feel sorry for him. He's underperformed and his signings have been shit (Billy being the exception). Not sure I'd have given him any money to spend either after his track record so far.
