"Mutual Consent." That means we have come to an agreement to let him leave for free. We have managed to get Higdon and Dimaio off the books without paying them off. Thus freeing up wages for potential new signings.

Dimaio for example will probably have been one where Chesterfield and the Blades were unable to reach an agreement over the fee involved. We would also be due compensation due to his age if they signed him up for free transfer at the end of his contract. Therefore we agreed to terminate his contract without paying him of which meant Chesterfield could sign him as he was unassigned to a club. Meaning...
  1. We didn't pay him off
  2. We got him off the wage bill
  3. Chesterfield got their man for free without having to pay compo
Basically, securing the release of these two by 'mutual consent' suggests signings are coming in.

hope you're right but don't bank on it.

Not necassarily, mutual consent could mean both parties have reached an agreement on compensation I believe.

"Mutually terminated" can include a fee. Say there was 100k left on his contract, we could agreed to pay him 50k now to get him off of the books.

I thought Dimaio had gone on loan??

NasserElKhayati has signed for QPR from Burton.

I've played enough FM to know that players will only leave if we pay a certain amount until their contract expires. ;)

If he was on £8K a week, I make that he cost us about £24,600 per game and £118,190 per goal. Fantastic piece of business.

It's the right decision, but why on earth did we sign him?!

Should we be reading into the timing off these terminations? If players are out of contract, is there ability to join another club governed by the transfer window? If they're getting shut today, why today? Wishful thinking, but its got to be about freeing up funds. Otherwise, why the mass cull today?

In higdon a case he's a free agent now, can sign for anybody at any time now window or otherwise, dimao is off to cheesie, same thing applies if he doesn't go there, he can sign whenever..

They've been circulating names for months and were hoping to get a fee AND get the wage bill down from the SCMP limit. The offers haven't materialised so they've released them today to leave some headroom for any incoming signings. That would be my guess, I suspect we'll get at least one player in prior to the deadline, but who knows.

Higdon's contract must have either been cancelled altogether, or paid off on a lowered agreement. To pay it off completely with only a few hours till the window shuts would be stupid at best. There was a time for that - we're well past it now.

Sorry not got time to read all today.
Sounds like no one then?
