Well said. Some of our fans would rather have someone who behaves impeccably but is wank on the pitch over someone who apparently misbehaves and can actually play a bit. When did football turn into an opera theatre environment, lets get 11 nuns out on the pitch.

I don't think some managers mind players having a couple of drinks when their is no match on or they are not in training. McNuts pushed his luck on more than one occasion and I think it all started going downhill for him when he got his face smashed in Edinburgh while out with his usual crew of numpty mates.

He might be decent on the pitch when he wants to be but it's clear Adkins demands a better attitude on and off the field. Maybe that's why he has been sent to Pompey? Try to get him as far away as possible from his mates and give him the chance to focus on his football.

As for us fans we pay good money to watch these players and personally I don't want to see players wander around the pitch looking like they have been on the lash the night before. You can still be talented on the pitch without needing to go out and get wasted with your mates every week.

If McNuts wants to make it at a higher level then he should know what he needs to do by now.

If you're going out drinking between matches you aren't taking your career or your job seriously and therefore I'd rather we gave someone else a chance who understands what a great opportunity it is to play for us.

Getting shit faced between games isn't what an athlete should be doing. It's unprofessional to its core and shouldn't be acceptable to any club or fans wanting to go somewhere.
Not sure where I've even alluded to the fact that I'm happy for wank players to play for us. Picking the players for us to buy is upto the manager and board and they should be of a good enough standard, but everyone of their attitudes should be professional and looking to do the best for SUFC else they should be out the door. Hence why I don't think we should keep any player who wants to go no matter how good they are.

But then I didn't think much of Andy Gray either, and I see him as a similar ilk. People pull up the Billy comparison, but the amount of work he puts in to create goals for other people and shows McNulty up.

I wasn't saying you were happy to have wank players playing for us FB, I put that to enhance my point and that my opinion is that I'd rather have someone who's a bit of a twat who can play a bit rather than someone who behaves impeccably but can't play the game very well. Good post otherwise and I know opinions will differ on this but I go to watch football not see how much of a bellend they are off the pitch, none of this being proved by the way other than his mates saying something on social media, it all seems a bit over the top imho.

Man U didnt turn a blind eye to his drinking exploits. Very often Matt Busby would lecture Best in his office. Best would say later that when called into Busby's office to be chastised, he would simply look beyond the manager and count the emblems on the wallpaper. His last top division match was when he was 27 (ironically previous to his last match he played against us in our 2-1 Boxing Day win in 1973) and was never the same player again but he still pulled in crowds at Fulham and other few clubs. His peak was probably when he was 22 in 1968
