The way we've handed transfers under both Nigels is bordering on negligence. The myopic chasing of a player, seemingly disregarding other issues, is almost suicidal. Now its Dan Burn, a player who is regularly starting at a higher level and apparently signing a new contract with his club. The same happened with Brayford, Hammond, O'Grady and Coady.

Yes, we may sign him, but has the myopic hunt for Hammond and Brayford changed us into a promotion team? No. We need to improve the team across the board and spending all our time, effort and money on one player will not fo that. Unless we're playing a 5 year game of going up.

To get out of this league you need better players in most positions. They don't have to be Championship standard, they just need to be good for this league. It's not rocket science.

Adkin's hands are tie to a degree with the rubbish we already have on our books but the continued ridiculous way of going about transfers is doing us no favours.

Other teams can do this fairly quickly but we seem to obsess on individual players.

I must agree that the similarities between them in terms of borderline obsession with securing certain specific players, come what may is incredible and perplexing.

Looks like smoke and mirrors to me. Probably another they couldn't get "over the line"
The old adage about treating the fans like mushrooms (keep in dark, feed em shit) doesn't work anymore. Fans probably know what this Dan Burn bloke had for breakfast with social media, never mind whats happening with him, Fulham and United.
So mr Adkins. Please stop being a PR man for our board and tell us straight.

OK, so if we do get promoted, we have a team full of players on 3 year deals who are only good enough for league 1 ?

How dare you bring obvious logic into the realm of a football forum! ;)

Yes. The ideal would be to bring in players who are proven at L1 level but have the potential to step up to a higher level, like Matt Richie, Callum Wilson etc.
But the risk in that is we end up with more Scougalls and McNultys.

Whatever approach we take, there is a downside and a potential to go wrong. There's no way of guaranteeing promotion without committing to spending a significantly larger amount than all of your competitors over a sustained period.

We have no clue whatsoever who the club are after, if anyone at all. The media and "ITK" say we are trying for Dan Burn, but since when do they talk anything but bullshit?

So basically, as usual the club are criticized on heresay and rumours. Nice one.

Like every other club who gets promoted you sign players who can be developed to play at a higher level. For example, Jamie Murphy.

But if we do go up we might have a squad of L1 players we don't want who can extend their contracts by 12 months?
