James Wallace

Clough wanted to play him, no doubting that, the point is though that whilst he was injured during Cloughs' spell in charge Wallace himself has come out and said he's been fit for months but just not getting picked, you must see that this is pretty odd now he's played consecutive games for the first time in ages.

Not odd at all because he could breakdown easily and he broke down often enough while Clough was in charge when he kept trying to play him. It's good that he is playing regularly but like YES Blade said would you bet on Wallace staying fit between now and May?

We are picking up enough injuries in the squad lately we can't afford to have a player who is high risk.

Adkins played him early in the season and he picked up a couple of injuries.

Adkins wants a settled side and with Wallace and also Kennedy he won't get that. They are both good players who could improve our first team but if they ain't fit regularly, they aren't any use unfortunately.
You're missing the point that Wallace himself has said he's been fit for months, why hasn't he being using him should be a question asked to Adkins. If the answer is that he wants a settled xi then fine but 1) why not have him on the bench then and 2) how come you don't see him as being better than what we have in that position, which I personally find baffling.

Lets get one thing straight, if Wallace had never said this then I wouldn't be half as bothered, mate!

I'd rather have him here injured than some of the shite we have who are actually fit. :)

I do take your point though and Yes blades' point too.

Couldn't he have done that with us though?

For some reason, no.

He probably thinks he's better than his current status of loanee at Shrewsbury, and rightly so. If it is a psychological problem he has with fitness, he's perhaps got the kick up the arse he needed to snap out of it.

So what if he has been fit? He claimed he had been playing regularly in the reserves which to be fair he hadn't. I think he was trying to reassure fans of Shrewsbury that he is fit to play for them. If he arrived and said "Yeah I am not that fit at all but hopefully I can get some game time here." I doubt that would have gone down well with them.

Good point.

It does smack of slightly suspicious that he's suddenly managed two 90 minutes in a row yet could never manager that feet for us. odd.

We don't need to ask Adkins, we've got all the answers on here, cheers chaps! :D

Don't you think it's funny that the only time he has stayed fit is when he's been dropped from the first team? Maybe Adkins is right and it's a psychological issue?

There are no conspiracy theories, Adkins ain't looking after his mates, Adkins doesn't hate good players. He is a football manager, he wants to win matches and he knows as we all do that good players will help the team to win. So obviously past injuries and the likelihood of future injuries is the reason Wallace is at Shrewsbury, nothing more to it.

You've already liked KCs' post and seen I liked it so there was no need to post this really as I have seen some light on the situation. Maybe others can take note ;)

I'm obviously not very fast at typing and hadn't seen all that before hitting post!

I know he has started 2 games, however has he played well?
Of course he has. He wasn't playing for us so he was bound to have been fantastic. In fact, having seen him play three times in the last two years, I know full well he would have been brilliant in those two games and is just what we are missing in the midfield. He has a shot on him as well which means he's bound to be better than Basham and Hammond. I mean, Basham has scored three goals this season and Wallace as scored err, well that's besides the point.

Just had a little look on the Shrewsbury forum - the only comment I could find about Wallace was:

"Wellens and Wallace dire tonight and look totally unfit"

Played yet another 90 minutes in their 1-0 loss tonight, what the fuck is going on at our club?
Manager complained about players looking fatigued and being totally overrun all over the pitch.

I'll post this again table again, so you can see if the evidence ever suggests he is ever going to make it as a professional footballer capable of playing anything like 30 to 50 games a season. 6/7 years of chances suggests not.

We do not have the luxury in L1 to carry any more passengers taking up non scoring midfielders wages.
Promotion squads are built on stability.

My main gripe Davie was that he's managed consecutive minutes for Shrewsbury but never managed it with us, I was happy with the replies I got and everyone answered it well.

Your post is quite informative but it doesn't say how he effects games for others to flourish just as he did at Tranmere before they capitulated after his injury (shock, I know:) ). They were top before he got injured and he had a huge influence on their season.

he's had less than 100 games in his whole career, I think it might be a bit late to expect him to put together a run now

He's a non event, if we're not bloodthirsty and ruthless, enjoy league one till we get relegated... We've paid for passengers and sharps pulling the bus with Brayford...

Beards out of form atm... But I'll never slag him...

Cuvellier, Wallace, dejuventus, non events etc etc.. Just fuck em off..

Worst thing is that we've got another year of carrying him apparently. OS said he signed a 3 year deal upon arrival.

I reckon Adkins gave him a swift kick in the car park pre-match.

It's a shame for Wallace.

His body can't take playing regular football.
Clough gave him plenty of time to fully recover last season but his body still breaks down.
