How many of Sky's subscribers actually have a season ticket or attend live matches regularly?

The point I'm making is that the majority of Sky's football "fans", will think great they are showing Man U vs Liverpool live and not give a shit about how it is done and who is being inconvenienced as a result. So from Sky's point of view, who do you keep happy? A few thousand who will moan that a match has been moved or the millions of Sky viewer who will watch the match live on TV?

Very sad, but even more true.

The fact they don't show Saturday 3pms, means that even fans who go to live games can still catch 95% of the games Sky put out. You're right though, they're quite happy upsetting the minority and does the man in the street (or sat in front of his telly) really care that a few Blades fans will have to cancel their weekend plans.

There’s probably an option missing…

I cancelled Sky Sports at the start of this season. The reason was that I didn’t want to pay to watch the Premier League following the obscene deal which Sky has paid for the Premiership. The only reason I had sky sports was for the F1 and Championship/ Football League games. I don’t remember the last time I watched a premier league game at home (although I did watch a few in Japan)

The daft thing is that the F1 channel is part of the entertainment package and I’ve ended up paying GBP 1 more per month not to have Sky Sports

And the worst part is that I watch quite a bit on catch up when I’m home, things like Game of Thrones etc and stuff on discovery. I know there are other options but Sky is convenient, a decent service and their broadband has been pretty faultless, unlike other providers

I tried Virgin Media for TV, but they’re not in my area yet, so to speak.

BT's broadband network is the one used by Sky.

Didn't know that, except i knew that they used the BT phoneline. However, compared to people with BT broadband, never had a problem with Sky... Plus i don't have to deal with BT ever. Thank fook!

Don't have Sky and never will. Its a cancer on football, but that said the Premier League are more than willing to have this partnership because of the obvious billions, and sadly clubs are unwilling to pass that massive revenue onto the fans with cheaper tickets.

By my reckoning, you're actually spending £876 per year. How is that a saving?

The TV in our house is never off. I need sports and movies. I couldn't care less about any other channel. The kids like Nick Jr as opposed to free to air channels, so I need the kids channels. Then we have a TV in my room and the daughter does in her room, so I need multi room. I have big LCD/LED TVs so need to subscribe to HD.

I've got an Android box running Kodi. Its not very intuitive and the missus can't work it. She knows its 101 for EastEnders and 103 for Corrie. She doesn't need to search around for a feed.

I can't get virgin TV as its not in my area. Unfortunately, SKY is a necessity for me but I have nowhere else to go based on how I use it.

I could potentially get rid of the movie channels and us Kodi but it would save only £3-5 per month as I will always subscribe to sports.

That's my idea of hell :-)

We have a tv, and I use it to play films on every Saturday night and once or twice a month one for the kids. I get the films from the internet. I don't need to do this but it's a nice routine and I'm not enriching Rupert Murcock in doing it.

...subscription TV is so 20 century...

Not read the whole thread but this makes me think how politically important the Pirate Bay is, and how remarkable it is that they are so resilient.

Downloading Game of Thrones is not *exactly* the same as joining the French Resistance and blowing up bridges in WW2 but it does show a certain independence of spirit.

You have not been assimilated.

Tell me more ,got the firestick ,whats that other. Im a complete technophobe btw ,so no big words please. Don't know why my writings gone funny ,I didn't do anything.

If you have a sky dish and internet connection then you want to get yourself something called an enigma2 box sitters. £100 one off payment to get a box that is already set up for you so you literally just plug and play. It is then £30 a year (or £4 a month for those who prefer to pay monthly) for the full sky package including BT Sports , Box Nation and all the PPV boxing etc when it is on. Savings of near enough £1k a year by switching to one of these.

Works exactly the same as sky too, they are proper channels received through your dish not internet streams like these firesticks which can be unreliable.

If anyone is interested then feel free to DM me, I know a guy who knows a guy etc

Allegedly of course ;)

You live at our house too? Knew some bastard was forgetting to turn off the upstairs light.

Can't believe everyone doesn't have Sky Q and sky sports in 4k. Are you all still living in the 8th century?

If the people who have trouble with BT broadband were on Sky unfortunately they would have the same problems.

Had TV including Movies and kids, plus broadband and phone from SKY. On the last few days now before getting out, phone line hasn't worked since before Christmas, intermittent broadband problems, best I get is about 0.8 Meg on speed tests. Looking at BT Fibre for broadband, Sky don't offer this in my area, then will use Freesat and Netflix plus probably Prime, tend to watch most stuff on my laptop or tablet these days anyway. Never paid for sport always a good excuse to nip to the pub!

I have a little box under my TV that allows me to get Sky for free, without streaming, but I still haven't got my arse into gear and cancelled my Sky subscription. I really need to.

I'm reluctant to move my broadband from them though as they are incredibly reliable.

Me for one :)

I probably spend around £1500-£2000 a year on books. I think most people would consider that to be crazy.

Mind you in another thread you've got people talking about spending six grand a year just on leasing a car never mind the running costs...
