Could be a number of reasons but clubs like to play poker with each other. So we want Stan Tern and Fulchester want to sell him. We offer a stupidly low fee, they ask for a stupidly high one. They have a price at which they will sell but we don't know what that is and don't want to overpay. Similarly, they are wondering if anyone else might come in for him, if their first choice falls through and they can use it to drive up the price.Your right about what he says Pete, but don't understand his remark about activity would be at the end of the transfers window, why is that ?.
So they do a little dance around money until it gets close to TDD and then both parties sweat a bit over whether the deal will get done or not. It's standard negotiation tactics, see who flinches first.
