Transfer window activity

Your right about what he says Pete, but don't understand his remark about activity would be at the end of the transfers window, why is that ?.
Could be a number of reasons but clubs like to play poker with each other. So we want Stan Tern and Fulchester want to sell him. We offer a stupidly low fee, they ask for a stupidly high one. They have a price at which they will sell but we don't know what that is and don't want to overpay. Similarly, they are wondering if anyone else might come in for him, if their first choice falls through and they can use it to drive up the price.
So they do a little dance around money until it gets close to TDD and then both parties sweat a bit over whether the deal will get done or not. It's standard negotiation tactics, see who flinches first.

We need Higdon moving on - don't think he came cheap. Was after £8k a week from Chesterfield before signing for us according to their boards at the time. I doubt we are paying less.

See Done last season.

Also, if we're looking at fringe players at Chumpionship clubs, they tend to be involved in the FA Cup in January, as late as the last week if they get to 4th round.

I don't think anybody is surprised by our activity this window, and seeing as nobody really has moved other than loans (shhh we might still pay some of those loans wages btw) it's a waiting game as usual, we might see one decent player in, and likely some will have spotted our apparent lack of funds and might test us with a bid for Adams sharp or Brayford, and the Brayford bid may come from a cross the city by the sounds of it, you won't like it, but I've a feeling he'll be tempted with the direction they're going in as well, the quick fix is to replace can't head can't tackle can't score Sammon with, can't head can't score can't tackle Higdon and free up £8.000 of wages...that would help..

Here's a thought; why not tell Brayford he can go anywhere he likes if they meet our transfer fee but not the pigs. No chance. No fucking way. We're not selling you to those wankers. End of conversation.

Higdon is on between £6-7K a week currently. I dread to think what Sammon is on!!

Whilst you are right Pete, I'm yet to see a satisfactory explanation from anyone at the club as to the change of position from "trying" to sign Dan Burn and "reinvesting" all of the Murphy money in the team to "need to get some out before we can get some in". Especially when you consider that in that time we've moved out McNulty, Alcock and Wallace and only loaned in Hammond.

And indeed added substantial ( £1m + ) funds from the cup run to the funds generated from last seasons cup successes .......

Damn that black hole and the incredible cost of new fax machines

Because the Board spokesman can then explain the complete and utter lack of incoming activity by saying " we tried so hard but just couldn't get the deals done in time" ( again ) !!

Its the bladesway ......

I'm from this end of the woods, mate they're talking about it, they've been jealous for ages over Brayford and some Wendy's I know think he's a perfect fit, with clough gone and the playoff lottery looming again who knows.... With our board you couldn't ever write this off, and as most have said on here for Phipps etc to read we didn't really need strengthening there as a number one priotity...

I'd hate it too as his already legendary status would go up in smoke straight away, but look at the facts, he's not Adkins player for a kick off and we have the least resilient board in the whole of the football world with a shitload of fans ready to believe everything they get spoon fed by them..

I'm sure your right BB, but we always seem to become embroiled in this scenario, whilst others just get things done.

Exactly. Coventry, for example, have just been getting on with it.

It all depends who you're going for, Cov have extended two loan deals for players they already had and brought in three free agents which is a lot more straight forward. Whether paying out big pay packets to the likes of Joe Cole and Stephen Hunt is a wise move, only time will tell.

Yep, I'd be lining up to have a pop at them if I were in our position. You have some sort of disorder don't you?
whats our position ,,,, we are lining up some big lads who have been playing reguarly not someone , Joe Bennett ,who hasnt featured all season

This may be raking over old ground, but how did Bournemouth manage to spend their way from our division to the premed league on their gates?

Good question sir! They spent a few quid in that season from memory and from then onwards but because they got promoted to the Premier League they are now out of the jurisdiction of FFP and can spend as much as they want unless they get in Europe like Man City have had punishments and that's not likely for Bournemouth, at least not yet anyway.

Outside the play offs in League One, compared to being in the play offs in the Championship.

I agree Wiz, I would rather have one or two really good players, who can make a huge difference to the outcome of games, than a handful of journeymen who the opposition will run through.

Quite often, we talk here about one standout player in a team (Dack or Moncur for example), adding those type of players to strengthen us and weaken our opposition.
Other supporters probably look at Uniteds squad and think sharps a stand out player.
Probably one or two more as well, we just don't see it.

Fuck what that lot think. Whatever you think of KM, and in my case it's not a lot, he knows exactly how we'd react to selling our talisman to them.
I'd be shocked if he was that stupid.

Don't forget lads and lasses that a transfer involves three agreements:

1) selling club to buying club
2) selling club to player
3) buying club to player

And because I've written it down like that it immediately makes it sound more difficult than it actually should be/is.
