For those upset/angry/horny at the fact that we haven't had any activity in the transfer window so far, please read or listen to *any* Nigel Adkins interview from the last month.

He's repeatedly said our activity would be at the end of the window.

He's also repeatedly said we need to get people out before we can bring people in.

It will save you a lot of heartache in the long run.

I'm disappointed that at no stage has he said "we're trying to make transfers of football players" in any of his interviews so far this month.

Also looking for him to say "we've got a group of hardworking, honest admin staff working behind the scenes"

I thought it was maybe something to do with those letraset action transfer things I used to do as a kid ;)

Blimey that takes me back! That would be the era of getting a Captain Scarlet dinky car and a Man from UNCLE annual at Christmas!

Absolutely, I can remember as a kid going on holiday in Scarborough, staying in a B&B on Trafalgar Road, nipping to the newsagents on the corner and having a transfer set bought for me to do whilst watching Yorkshire up the road, Boycs and all :)

Similar to me, but we were probably in Great Yarmouth, scaring ourselves in the House of Wax, and buying a toy Luger, that looked like something that Napoleon Solo would have.

We've got rid of players and we're almost two thirds through the window so we'll wait and see. We don't just want any player, we want a minimum of two players with real quality for this league, whether we get that or not will determine our outcome this season as the current crop may just scrape in the playoffs at best.

Wednesday are buying a defender who cant get in the aston villa team , the leakiest defence in the prem
thats buying for buyings sake
the star will say owls buying prem star, wouldnt be one in May

I agree Wiz, I would rather have one or two really good players, who can make a huge difference to the outcome of games, than a handful of journeymen who the opposition will run through.

Quite often, we talk here about one standout player in a team (Dack or Moncur for example), adding those type of players to strengthen us and weaken our opposition.

If he was playing btl they might not leak as many goals. :)

Yep, I'd be lining up to have a pop at them if I were in our position. You have some sort of disorder don't you?

I suspect it will all come down to last day or so, maybe the last few hours as teams jockey for positions and strings of transfers fail or proceed.

We need to get shut of a few, before we buy.

Damn right. Che Adams can't sell himself. These things take time.

Whilst you are right Pete, I'm yet to see a satisfactory explanation from anyone at the club as to the change of position from "trying" to sign Dan Burn and "reinvesting" all of the Murphy money in the team to "need to get some out before we can get some in". Especially when you consider that in that time we've moved out McNulty, Alcock and Wallace and only loaned in Hammond.

Only a guess but I'd imagine Hammonds wages are more than those three combined.

Don't even bank on the last day Hartley. Adkins has already come out with the usual if we don't manage to sign anyone this window, the loan window opens a week later

Now where have we heard that before?

Your right about what he says Pete, but don't understand his remark about activity would be at the end of the transfers window, why is that ?.

The loan window might re-open a week later but you can only loan players for 90(?) days.
So the actual date we should be pencilling into our diaries is 90 days before the play-off final.

I imagine his total wage is. But I can't see our contribution being more than those 3 combined but acknowledge we are speculating. But if we also factor in that Murphy's wage is gone as well as the fee he generated, the vast majority of the £1.5 million in theory, should still be available.

I suspect the reality of the situation was a little different to the picture Jim painted in that the fees will go toward paying the wage bill that our normal turnover won't cover and which would have had to have been subsidised had Murphy not been sold.
