Trouble in paradise? It's not as easy as you might think, this soccerball..

Needs to come off Twitter. Full of non entities and mouth breathers who think it's acceptable to dish out vile abuse to all and sundry despite never having achieved anything in their pathetic lives.

Not a fan! ;)

Twitter's great.

I think an issue in life in general is it's easier to grumble than praise.

If you like what's happening at the club I think it might be worth letting Jim and others know. Have Tweeted him and messaged on fb as do many others. I was also thinking of snail mail, as that takes time and effort.

Is there a battle for the soul of the club going on?

It's an internet thing more than a Blades thing. All facets of humanity are let loose on Twitter.

I like Phipps - in his job he has to speak positively so he's an easy target. I'd spend much less time on Twitter in his position.

He might be making an early exit from twitter before the shit hits the fan when the JTW closes. wise decision Jimbo

Being on social media he leaves himself open to dickheads giving him abuse.

He doesn't deserve the abuse he gets but he should really start to use the block button more often.

Jim is a really calm, placid, compassionate man who wants to see the best in people.

When you decide to Block or Ignore it's like giving up on someone.

I try to avoid Internet Psychology but the way I see it is if someone has constructive criticism then listen but the club is often just a vehicle for vile and senseless abuse. Imo there's no point engaging with people like that as they're raging at life.

Twitters nothing more than a parade of cunts. At least most of the cunts on Facebook are your friends.

Hardly surprising that Jims getting abuse. Theres a section of this clubs support which is the amongst the most unpleasant set of bastards in the land. Even worse when they end up on Twitter.

Yes but trying to be open to all fans will never work. Some of our fanbase has a minority of dickheads like every other club.

I agree.

I've seen internet abuse take a real toll on at least one very good person who (also) couldn't figure why being open and positive didn't work.

I don't think it's in Jim's nature to give up just yet, but at some point something will have to give I think.

Kind words sometimes help in these situations. It might be an idea to send some. Lots of people do eg on fb.

There are few positives of Jim being on twitter - the communication between the club and fans on the real issues hasn't improved, and it never will, that's just football. Communication between any football club and their fans will always be surface level, generic and to suit the current plight and agenda of the club - this happens at every level.

So the only real outcome of Jim being on twitter is to try and connect with fans and share video's, pictures and club announcements (which the majority you can get from the clubs official site or fans forums). But like all football clubs and sets of fans, rightly or wrongly, he's going to get abuse when the club are under performing. No point in complaining about it as he's putting himself up there to be shot at. As a Chairman he should have better judgement and get off twitter, as unless we are steaming towards promotion he's always going to get some abuse and hassle.

Jim's overreacting. Needs to calm down, leave it for today & maybe think about getting involved in "discussions" on twatter straight after matches when tempers are potentially frayed.

Can't really see what he's complaining about on this occasion.

You can't really see all the messages he receives either.
