Adkins Wigan Post Match Interview

We needed 2 centre halves at the very least, and as first priority before anything else.

The failure to do that has and will continue to cost us so long as we go without addressing it. Responsibility for which lays purely with Adkins. He chose two strikers over two centre halves, simple as that.

The money was there. I don't know what planet he lives on but it certainly isn't Earth.

Travel back 8 months, what would we have said if it were to be revealed we weren't going to prioritise the defence, and only make a half hearted last ditch punt on a Championship reject after a thrashing at Gillingham?

Something tells me we wouldn't have accepted it, so why are the majority doing exactly that now? Mind boggling.

Probably because most aren’t stupid enough to believe your nonsense. Adkins made it perfectly clear to you, I and everyone else that we were trying to get a defender in BEFORE Gillingham but couldn’t get it over the line in time and Edgar arrived immediately after. This has been pointed out to you several time and your continued pretence that the Edgar signing was in response to the Gillingham defeat shows your agenda for what it is and is part of the reason people thing your pork.

Most believe Sammon was a Clough/Brannigan deal. You have no idea about what Adkins prioritized. All you know is when the signings arrived. Hardly surprising that 2 of his ex players (one a free agent and one a life long blade) were the easiest deals to complete. He couldn’t have made it any more clear that he was trying to get Burn in as well. He doesn’t deal with the negotiations so that was a failure of those above him.

And just think where we’d be without Sharp this season. He’s been our best player by some distance. Woolford, limited though he is is a body to “replace” the outgoing Murphy. If we’d started this season with last season’s attacking options minus Davies (loan ended), Holt (loan ended), Done (injured) and Murphy (sold) only leaving Higdon, McNulty and Adams there would have been outrage on here too. Phipps and co have stated several times that there was room in the budget for defenders as well as Sharp/Sammon/Woolford even before the Murphy sale. The failure to do the necessary deals is not the fault of Adkins. Now it’s changed to needing more out (despite selling Murphy and Alcock and loaning out McNulty and Wallace).

By continuing to ignore these points in your anti-Adkins diatribe you just make yourself look very silly.
