Man Utd Tickets

Another Box whore here! I had decided not to go at the prices Man United want to charge. Got the call last night with the offer of a corporate package with a full slap up and free bar and thought it would be rude not to!

I fully expect us to get a tonking, but should a miracle occur Fulwood, I will join in!

Consider yourself the exception then.
Don't worry about that. I'm the wheat, sorted from the forum chaff. )Too much talk about expensive tyres, beatniks, explicit bodily fluid exchange, economics and politics on here. :D)
I'm just a corporate box whore and don't care. When it's offered, free of charge, you take it.

i've got train tickets, opened ended return, i've got visions of me and 4000 other Blades on the platform waiting for the 22:22hrs train home!!! :)

You're right Carling, there are later trains - I always catch the last train back whenever we've played in the Greater Manchester area but be warned because it's always busy. I think there are 8 trains between around 8.20 and 10.20(ish) and no doubt there will be a good few thousand of us trying to get on them. Hopefully someone will have the forethought to put more carriages on but I doubt it so for those of us who get on one it'll be fairly snug.

Looks like we have a spare. Would need to be picked up in Heeley. If anyone's interested, PM me.

We were going to go on the train but with six 11 year olds in our party, I was a bit nervous about coming back (14 of us in all) so I've hired a minibus. If anyone else is worried about getting back with kids in the totley/greenhill/dronfield area I've ended up with a 17 seater so might have a couple of spare seats. Probably not leaving till about 1 as a couple of the lads are playing football in the morning but leaving OT straight after game (parked next to main car parks)

Looks like Jim Phipps is offering two free tickets - can't make it because of illness. Get well soon, Jimbo!

I have some comments on it :

1. I notice they pick the photo with the daftest-looking Blade at the front .............Machiavellian publicity or what ?

2. We have sold all the tickets we were given , which was nowhere near the 15% to which we were entitled , which would have been 11,250.

3. Even 11,250 would not have been enough. When we came in 1971 we were top of the First Division and brought 20,000 , some of whom were in the reported 15-20,000 who were locked out that day. The records show the gate that day was 51,000 and the highest for the season was 56,000 in the derby , but you have to remember that this was the days of manual cash turnstiles and the accountants just plucked figures from the air for attendances. My 13 year old mates who got in said they could hardly breath. Those were the days – off on the coach to an away match in the violent 70s at the age of 13 – “why are you wearing those big boots, Chris ? Just in case it’s muddy, Mum !” This match was memorable for the George Best goal shown on TV for ages afterwards. Amazing that In 2016 , after 5 tedious years in League One , we would have brought about 15,000 – that’s blind loyalty the present Club owners don’t deserve.

Anyway , we’ll be having banana skins for tea on Saturday !

2-1 Blades no bother. Giggs to score first but then we'll come back with Jamie Hoyland and Glyn Hodges. Mark my words. I just watched "Golden Gordon" you see.

Part of the Stretford End was closed for some Man U home games in 1971 including against us. A knife was thrown from the Stretford End towards Newcastle's keeper Iam McFaul in a game with Newcastle in February 1971, the terracing behind the goal had to be cleared, a £7,000 fine met, and the first two home games of the 1971/72 season played away from Old Trafford.

My ticket has gone, sorry to others who contacted me

For non-season ticket holders I think the cheapest for us was £47.

I'm a Blades member so I would probably have been in that category. That's exactly why I'm not going.

When I he told me his was £28 I couldn't find the words.

I wasn't going to bother either once I saw that the most expensive ones were £55 (to non-season ticket holder). I don't think £37 is too bad though considering I paid £32 to go to Arsenal & Man City when we were in the Prem.

£30 is more than enough for any game of football in my opinion. I don't mind splashing out a bit for finals/semi finals at Wembley but other than that I draw the line at £30.
