Like everybody else I have no idea what players are coming or going however if Freeman is fit? I realise he aint the best but he has done ok, I would play Brayford at centre half with Edgar immediately, I know a lot will say we are losing an attacking threat, and I agree, but Freeman has proven to be a good attacking threat, and I rate Brayford as possibly our best centre half, a position I feel needs immediate attention.

I get your point and it's strange how Freeman has disappeared. That said I would like to keep Brayford at right back as I think offers much more as an attacking outlet than Freeman. Freeman is a poor man's Brayford really

Freeman is absolute shite .
If anything go and get another CB but in no way let Freeman near the first eleven.

Cast your minds back to last time when Brayford played at centre half, he was poor and looked out of place, we also lost that attacking flair he processes. We sold Harry which has cost us promotion in the last 2 seasons. The most disappointing aspect of all this is, we got hardly any money for him and he was a true leader and fans favourite.

To be fair Maguire only left a season and a half ago. Give the board a chance

But when Harry was here he was always head & shoulders better than any other centre back at the club (i.e. Particularly Collins).......And even back then we needed a better partner for Harry!

Agree that we need to replace Collins, but to be fair he was our best defender today...certainly the better of the 2 Centre Backs..Edgar has looked decent recently, but today I thought wasn't his best game ..and painfully slow which is a bit worrying.

Freeman is a poor, poor full back. If you watch him closely it is shocking how many time he loses his man down his side, and the opposition launch attack after attack down his side. It is ok being good going forwards and offering an attacking option, but a full back should be primarily a defender.

I'd prefer us to sign a new centre half we currently only have Collins (who is out of contract end of the season?) Edgar who is on loan and McGahey, who still hasn't been able to get back into the team after Clough said he needed a "break".
Yes other like Brayford can do a stint in that role but surely we are better of utilising him as a full back, he role is was in when he first came to us.
Its about time we truly replaced Maguire.

If the last 18 months has told us one thing it's we don't want stand-ins (full backs or midfield players) at centre half. It's a key position, I'd argue the most important position in the team, what we want is a big dominant no-nonsense centre half, then either Edgar or Collins are adequate as the second centre half.

I'd say when Maguire was here, alongside Collins, they were an excellent partnership. Maguire attacked everything (and generally won everything), Collins mopped up and organised around him.

For a business not to address something that effects 50% of its success [half the game of football is stopping the opponent from scoring] and to be over half way through its fiscal year is nothing short of criminal.

When the season started we needed to score 2/3 goals to win a game, Mr Clueless still has us in that position, well done.

Amended it slightly.

I'd say when Maguire was here, alongside Collins, they were an excellent partnership. Maguire attacked everything (and generally won everything), Collins got lucky sometimes.

Collins always has been a weak link that gets weaker as time goes by.

Got to say I completely disagree about the seemingly general opinion of Freeman on here. There were several games earlier this season where he was the only player to show any quality.

Ignore this centre half nonsense, but surely he is a better left back than Jay McEveley. Surely?

The original post goes on (once again) about Brayford at CH.

Please look at the wiki stats below, confirmed by United's official website - he is 1.73M - or in old money 5 foot fucking 8 inches.

a 5' 8" centre half- give me strength !!!!!

Square pegs in round holes worked perfectly well last year didn't it:rolleyes:

Brayford is not a CB, infact he isn't even a natural RB, he gets caught out defensively time and time again. The best position for him is wing back with three central defenders, whether we have the players for this formation is another debate but it's certainly worth consideration.
