You've hit the nail on the head re my point mate. People wanting it as a souvenir of a big game. It's a 3rd round cup draw against what's likely to be an understregnth mu side. I hate it when people quote our big club status, but have we really become this small?
But for some that's exactly what it is : a big cup game against Man Utd. The details about understrength, third round, etc are just that - details.
There are threads on here on how to spend the day, about how many tickets we've sold etc.
We usually take about 1500 - 2000 away paying about £20 each, we'll likely take more than 7000, paying ~£40 or more each, and if we sell out >8000.
And it's not a big game?
I've been to many "bigger", some "as big", and mainly those "smaller" but I've never seen any that way. I'm going to support my team and hope they win. The only time winning means more to me is when we play the swine herd from S6 so maybe that's the only fixture I see as a big game - and I don't see many wearing the colours of both teams there. But for some that's exactly what it is : a big cup game against Man Utd. Most posts on this thread seem to boil down to: I don't like it therefore no-one should like it.
This 3rd round tie against the mancs is a big deal and we will be close to selling out. If the tickets were priced more cheaply then we would sell the lot. This in itself proves want fans think of this game.
We will see how many tickets reach general sale - that's when 'some' glory hunters can jump on board.
YesI take it this is a joke?
Half and half scalf's are for twats.
UTB
You seem to be attempting to start an entirely new and unrelated argument.
Not really Pete, just picking up on the comments of this fixture being an insignificant match.
For the record I dislike the 50/50 crap as well!
The only way that this type of thing could work is if was for the club and country. I could see more selling as most (not all) would support both.
I still wouldn't buy one though.
Absolutely Pete. If I've suggested that this is a pop at fans then apologies to all. I did mention "glory hunters" as that is the kind of people who I believe wear this kind of scarf and, by that term, I meant those who wouldn't normally go to many home games (let alone away) are the type of people I believe would wear half and half scarves. No one has said the match was insignificant, the general point has been that we've not sunk that low as to need half and half scarves.
It's more a hatred of the scarves.
Which country though? Not really Pete, just picking up on the comments of this fixture being an insignificant match.

why hasn't the prince come up with sheffield wednesday toilet paper yet?.. that's a winner.Could be worse, the prince may have tried to unload his toilet tissue with Man U v the blades on each sheet, but I think that idea went down the pan![]()
Half and half......designed by cunts, worn by cunts and sold by cunts.
Without doubt the threads knocking the scarves, not the clubHaving just read this thread I can't help think this is having a knock at the club and does seem rather we ought to be billy big bollocks and now we aren't?
If you don't like them don't buy them. Plenty of kids will. I won't buy one but I am excited by the occasion and if you were to re-read the posts after the cup draw most, maybe all were excited by the draw also.
The club shop sells a load of tat I wouldn't dream of buying but plenty of folk do and seem to enjoy it. If the club makes a few quid surely that's good isn't it? A few folk on here need to chill and get over themselves with all this proper supporter stuff.
Anyway I'm just off to have a shandy, half and half, do yer get it........![]()
It grieves me to say it, but we are in the age of the football tourist.
Right! That's it! I'm off to set the club shop on fire!
