Now you all know I'm not one to simply have a pop at the club for the sake of it but they've gone too far.

This morning I receive an email from them regarding the shop sale. Picking the link the first thing I see is a fucking Manchester United v Sheffield United scarf. How small do the club think we are that we have to sell a scarf to commemorate a 3rd round cup game against anyone else. We're not some fucking none league team. I'm ashamed. Get these off sale FFS.

And as for anyone who buys one, get a grip. If you want to wear colours , wear those of the club you support - not those that say to everyone that you're not sure who you want to support.

Rant over.

I don't think it's a question of trying to decide who to support if you wear the scarf hby, probably bought more as a momento of the occasion, but totally with you on the 'no need for it in the first place' sentiment. Have we really fallen so far that we should celebrate battling our way to the 3rd round proper and pulling a plum tie that most other lower league teams can only ever dream of?!! Show a bit of pride SUFC, or at least stop treating your supporters like a cash cow daft enough to buy any ill-thought through scabby merchandise.

Dear Mr Meldrew

Presumably you're not the target audience.

I'd imagine plenty of kids (and some grown-ups) will be excited about the game and want a souvenir.

Personally I don't understand these split shirts/scarves - but plenty of people wear them. Live and let live.

I guess you and the rest of the happy clappers with a small club mentality are the target audience ........................... time to hit the ignore button for the first time :(

Spot on my Folks some people will find anything to have a dig at the club.Football is a business., if you don't like don't buy simples!!!!

Why don't we go the whole nine yards and start singing the old "we're proud of you" chant reserved for the plucky minnows who, despite their lowly position only get stuffed 4-0? Feck that, we support (in great numbers) a team from the 5th biggest city in the country, backed by sound investment and plans to be in Europe any time soon.....or has that ship sailed now? Yes, a scarf from playing against a team we have no hope of being like, might be something that the younger fans want as a momento, which makes it all the more sad that we've failed a whole generation of supporters. Reminds me a bit of our failed exploits in the Prem when Warnock blasted the players for showing too much respect for the opposition. What message are you sending out SUFC?

There is no target audience for such nonsense

Saw a few Hull fans at wembley for the semi with half-half flags, hope I didn't see any blades. Remember the first time seeing them was for that god awful cringe Celtic vs Liverpool match in the uefa cup.

It mystifies me why anyone would want one. As we came out of the away end at Villa after the cup win, there was a woman selling them. Given the general state of euphoria, that might have been a moment to get a few Yorkshiremen to go all sentimental and part with their money, but nobody did.

I wondered if she'd have been there if we'd lost, which would have been an even bigger challenge, if such a thing were possible.

They can serve a purpose and they must sell or they wouldn't make them. We went to Madrid for my mates stag weekend last year and took in a game between Real Madrid and Villareal ,so my mate bought one as a momento of his stag night. Supporters of the clubs wouldn't buy them but there must surely be a market.

Never seen the point of these split scarfs. If you're that desperate to get one you can pick them up cheaper outside the ground (proper knock-off one without the word "Emirates"on it), and they'll be 3 for a tenner after the game.

The OP has already stated in the first line that he doesn't have a pop at the club for the sake of it and from what i read on here the OP is correct so from what i've seen your assertions are incorrect mate on this occasion.

Normally agree with you WHF, but not this time. This is my pet hate and would never buy one for myself and my kids have grown up to know better. These, at best, are for the glory hunters who couldn't normally find BDTBL with a map - IMHO.

Dig through my posts and find one other where I've had a pop at the club. I don't and have been lumped in as a clapper. This scarf is an embarrassment.

...and we shouldn't sell them and try to make money because?

For some (including plenty on this forum making it a day out) this will be a really big game and they'll want a souvenir.

Most posts on this thread seem to boil down to: I don't like it therefore no-one should like it.

You've hit the nail on the head re my point mate. People wanting it as a souvenir of a big game. It's a 3rd round cup draw against what's likely to be an understregnth mu side. I hate it when people quote our big club status, but have we really become this small?
