To be fair, he could spend 24 hours in my kitchen and still not get to the bottom of the food Mrs Stringjunior has left overAll kitchens to DEFCON1.
5 goals in 10 games for Oldham.
Presumably he's match fit by now and we've never seen him match fit in truth.
I don't think anybody at Bramall Lane knows how good or bad Higdon is, but a recent 1 in 2 goal ratio at this level playing for a struggling club cannot be ignored, especially when our big striker is like a fish out of water!
Done is a good league one player and has credits in the bag from his performances in his stint with us, Sammon needs to show he can be better and he will then get less grief, it's quite simple really.Very interesting contrast with Done who seemed on a par but runs around more and so gets zero grief.
Done's a different type of player and less likely to strike a partnership with Sharp, though it's worth working at I'm sure.
We have a certain way of playing at present and the main focus is on keeping clean sheets. It is working but before long we will need a goal and we have a really positive bench with Adams, Sammon, Higdon, Reed, Ryce, Baxter?, Scougall all available as impact players. Of the two big lads I'd introduce Higdon as he's got a good career goalscoring record and he's more aggressive. Sammon has never had goalscoring in his locker.

We don't have to compare Higdon with Done, Sharp and Sparky.
We have to compare him with Sammon.
He might not run around as much but I'd say he's just as good at holding the ball up, and goal scoring-wise he's better.
I'm not his biggest fan but as a target man he's at least as good as what we've got.

Does this mean we can send Sammon back? Oh goody
It doesn't I believe. Higgo's was an emergency loan – think it's different for season-long loans. He can be recalled in Jan by Derby. Not sure it can be terminated, or even if that's something we'd be likely to do anyway.
I don't dislike Sammon but, as others have stated above, Higdon could do a similar job and is currently on a run of form which gives him a 1 in 2 goals ratio. I'm all for giving Higdon a chance.
it's not reasonable to judge him yet.
Sammon is more mobile than Higdon and, I think, generally the way Adkins sets up this is important.
Sammon can chase down defenders more quickly and more persistently than Higdon.
I'd be interested to see how he fared but I don't think, even with his 1:2 goals:game ratio he is an improvement on what we've got.
Might be able to do a job as a late sub but beyond that I'd be surprised.
Best we give him 10 games to find out if he is up to the task. After all he hasnt just had a full season under his belt proving himself worse than Chris Porter has he?
