You must have read my posts wrong. I'm really happy with the run we're on, but I don't think that should exclude me from being able to discuss areas of improvement.

I've only been on here a few months but it didn't take long to see what an annoying tosspot you are.

Your first post in this thread dismissed the win and made it clear that yesterday's win was nothing to get excited about. Understandably people responded and you carried on with the 'we are bigger and should win line'. This is what trolling is. Making a specious argument and then unreasonably defending it at all costs, refusing to accept reasoned response.

Then to crown it all, your comment above is completely disingenuous. I don't think you are 'happy' at all, but you can see the weight of vitriol aimed at you and don't want to back down.

FFS man, grow up! If you think you are wrong, admit it and move on. If you still think you are right, despite the massive negative response you generate, then ask yourself are you on the right site?

You will end up excluding yourself from future discussions because people are fed up to the back teeth with you.
They will simply ignore you.
Ask yourself, is this what you really want?

Great result, I don't care how we get the 3 points just get them, I'd take 24 more 1-0 average performances. As for the team, I think we are only 2 players short of a decent side, assuming we can get everyone fit. We still need a good centre half and some more firepower, I believe we have the rest just need to find the right blend and get rid of the shit and trouble makers. What is going on with Adams ? Is he injured ?. I am still living in hope that Adkins will have the same results with us after Xmas that he had with both Southampton and Scunny. For those of you not aware of his after Xmas record go have a half hour on google and check it out.

There's enjoying it and also having a bit of reality,
I expect us to win every game, we go into
theres no reality in that

we are seen as a big club
so are leeds southampton man city

Did they win every game, did they sweep aside all the "rubbish" in this league
reality is we are in this league on merit as is every other team

once people realise we are not something special the better
we were never going to hrash every team 5-0
no one else has managed it in 125 seasons

You appear to know quite a lot, go ahead and explain to me what it is I do on here other than solely express opinion? You haven't explained anything at all there, you've just basically said "don't post here because I don't like your opinions".

If you can't deal with my opinions, as it would seem with the above post, then you're going to need to ask yourself whether you're on the right site. I've got no problem discussing and debating topics, the only posts that go against that are when others, like you, respond to them with unfounded abuse. This scenario is a perfect example of what happens in every circumstance.

Have you got Aspergers?, or some form of ADHD, because that is how you across in a lot of your posts.

Is that distant relative, your uncle who is also your brother?
Will you start the game as 'brother Barney' have a flounce, when you lose and then come back as Uncle Barney?

'So what do you do Brother/Uncle Barney?'

'Well, when I'm not shagging, your/my, sister/mother/cousin/auntie, I'm an internet troll'
'Wow, I hope that I can be like you when I am 8'
What a sick mind you have. The sort of mindset commonly found amongst trolls would you believe. Absolute comedy.

No I wouldn't believe, but then I guess that you are more up to date with the characteristics of your 'brother (or uncle) trolls.

United's league record at Scunthorpe -

28/3/59 Scunny 1 Blades 3
26/9/59 Scunny 1 Blades 1
25/2/61 Scunny 1 Blades 1
20/2/82 Scunny 2 Blades 1
27/3/84 Scunny 1 Blades 1
1/9/07 Scunny 3 Blades 2
17/10/09 Scunny 3 Blades 1
22/2/11 Scunny 3 Blades 2
10/9/11 Scunny 1 Blades 1
8/9/12 Scunny 1 Blades 1
14/3/15 Scunny 1 Blades 1

i.e. in the 56 years & 3 months since September 1959 & prior to yesterday, our league record there has been:
Pld. 10; W.0, D.6, L.4; Gls. F.12, A.17.
(We've scored in each of those 10 games, but just as/more important - we'd never kept a clean sheet away at Scunthorpe before yesterday.)

So, yeah, some credit due, to say the very least.
And a big monkey off our backs.

Nonsense. Look at the size of their club compared with ours.

I don't care about history we should be hammering them.

I'm basing it on the size of each club. We're big, they're small. We should be hammering them. There's no other conclusion to be made.

seeing as you're all bigger and better than us!!

I'll leave that for you to work out, you're big and clever enough!

Yes just trying to work out why you've put 'us' when you support Worcester actually. Perhaps you could elaborate on that, or just explain why you're still here in general, that might be better.

i've already explained it in the 'punching goalkeepers' thread earlier....i like it on here, i'm an easy-going soul and enjoy good spirited banter both ways! :)

I don't personally have a problem with it, but if there's one thing you should know, accusations of piggery don't fall under 'banter' in this city. The above is different, I get that sort of thing on a daily basis, nothing untoward there. I'm too negative for some of the sensitive darlings on here.

Don't waste your time on that Rotherham fan who spouts nonsense. He has flounced from this forum but felt the need to comeback unfortunately.

You're always welcome here Jonny.

thats your perogative i guess...we all sit somewhere on the metaphorical sliding scale of how we support our clubs, whether it be 'negative' or 'positive' or in between (i'm very much one for seeing the positive even if things are on a low but thats more my happy-go-lucky disposition) which is also depending on the current state of affairs of course and thats what usually pulls a collective of fans in a forum along on a nice balance!

the piggy thing..was just over-exuberant banter so my apologies.

Scunthorpe clearly aren't anywhere as good as Coventry, which made it a bit easier for us compared to last week. We pressed higher and won the ball higher up a few times, resulting in some breaks, but not many chances. We still played low risk football with midfielders very rarely getting beyond the strikers and our focus is clearly to stop the opposition from playing and win the battle. It was a very scrappy and pretty even match, again won from a set piece.

With our poor form, coupled with some attacking players being unavailable, Adkins has clearly concluded a radical change of approach has been necessary. Players have bought into it, and most fans as well, obviously helped by three straight wins. Weir, although struggling even more, never made such drastic changes and was unable to arrest the slide.

Warnock, Blackwell and Clough all came in when we were struggling and prioritised solidity when they arrived. Even Wilson started his first game with Monty and Doyle in midfield and Cresswell and Porter up front. Although frustrating, even embarrassing for a club of our size, to resort to such tactics, it's sometimes needed. It's a good thing that we didn't have to change manager again to make it happen.

It won't be enough long term though. I think we've stopped the slide, more than turned the corner. I will be surprised if the current tactics gets us into the play offs. At some stage there has to be a change where more attacking ability is added to the team. That's going to be a challenge for Adkins, but he's probably learned a few things about the squad in the first half of this season. He should know more about what type of football he can realistically be looking to play for the second half and what additions are needed in January.

think we are turning a corner, not because of a couple of hard fought wins , but the slow return of long term injured giving us the strength weve been missing .
Adkins is being able to select a position or two and forget about them and work on solving another position., that needs adressing

We do need fresh blood , but the turn rounds starting as the better options we did have are available once more.

Yes, I don't think you can ignore the return of The Beard and Edgar or the improvement in match sharpness of Coutts and Hammond.
Adkins deserves credit though and has demonstrated why he's been a successful manager; sometimes things don't work out and you have bad runs and you have to work out how to turn it around. As Bergen says, Weir wasn't able to do that and that's the difference with getting an experienced manager; they know how to deal with set backs. That said, the experienced Adams couldn't do it, nor could Robson. Everything Adkins did when he came in hasn't worked but he's had the strength of character and nous to not let it overcome him.

I'm not just impressed, I'm relieved.

I agree it's no coincidence that the return of the beard has helped us. Edgar not best defender but does improve the back 4. Although we all know who the weak link is in that defence.

Adkins has done what he needed to do to stop the rot. Other managers have crumbled in the past. If he can grind out a few more wins then it should set us up well for January.
