  • begins by talking about resilience and hard work - and talks about it all the way through the interview
  • Did you start Billy as sub to get a reaction? need a reaction off everybody, not just Billy
  • no-one can rest on their laurels
  • lads are having a right go
  • consistency of team selection important
  • want to be an assertive team
  • that can be dependent on refs
  • Different approach? - played good football at times, not had the results, conceded too many goals, need to be resolute and solid
  • still looking to play 1-4-4-2
  • everyone's an attacker, everyone's a defender
  • top 2 not out of the question "without a shadow of a doubt" twice - emphatic on this
  • the Beard - good player, wholehearted, committed, good cross to Done last week, athletic, delighted to have him back
  • Is he a unique character (went to PMQs on his day off) - you want a good mix
  • grit and resilience needed - tough division
  • Dean Hammond - "I anticipate that he will be with us till the end of the season. As far as I'm concerned he's an ultimate professional football player. Does it every single day on the training ground. His habits and his professionalism can only rub off on other people."
  • do you like what you're getting from the engine room? - physical data shows we're getting round the field of play to close down and make ourselves available
  • need a blend, a balance
  • [make of the next part what you will, it's at 06:45] James Wallace - good that he's trained more - had a game with the u21s - need stability of selection but have to balance that with competition for places
  • Baxter, are you considering him? - we'll see
  • talks about Scunthorpe (and Bangor) but we move on
  • What did you learn from the promotions there? [good question] - team spirit and hard work
  • talks briefly about how they play passing football
  • (they've got Chelsea in the next round of the FA Cup)
As always some of this may be lost in translation - but I think it's pretty accurate

Another very good interview I thought - and good questions from Rob Staton.

Isn't Martin O'Neils hobby visiting sites of famous crimes? I am sure I read somewhere he's visited the scene of famous murders like the Yorkshire Ripper murder scenes.

Slightly less creepy than going to watch Cameron and Corbyn?

How many footballers can you think of that would even consider pitching up at Prime Minister's Question Time?
Never mind what Adkins says about a "good mix" - from my (admittedly distant) view he's the heartbeat of the dressing room, and probably the only current player I'd be gutted to see leave (with Done a distant 2nd).

He always maintains a good balance between recognising the need for improvement but not being over critical and trying to keep confidence levels and morale up.

It's up to the players to respond to it.

He'll have probably been to places just after Baxter has been there then :)

'everyone's an attacker, everyone's a defender'

Brazil circa 1974 coming up, I can't wait :)

Friendly note to Adkins:- Unless you're planning on playing your goalie on the wing, stop including him In your chuffing formation!

1-4-4-2. Who says that? Like ever?

It's mine too. I used to take pictures of my firms vans at football grounds then it developed to crime sites. Cromwell st before they knocked it down, sutcliffes house and Michael stone's funeral shooting on falls rd are 3 good ones.

Not sure he would ever be over critical of the players in public.

I drove past the house from The Amityville Horror once. It's shit, they've even got rid of those windows that looked a bit like eyes.

The street in Broomhall where Sutcliffe was caught with a prostitute has got to be Sheffield's most famous crime scene

Distinct kinds of managers that don't have the ability to prioritise transfers, apparently.

That's why he gets mixed up about whether or not to include a 1 before the formation.

Funnily enough he usually chooses to pursue the option most other managers wouldn't.

Wanker... all the time.

The U21s have played on the last 2 Mondays - Wallace hasn't been in either squad.

Adkins sounds very frustrated when asked about Wallace and Cuvelier.

You should have plenty to go at if ever you move permanently to the USA
Just a bit further to travel each time to get those pictures :)

I drive past Harold Shipmans old surgery most weeks. Think it's a pound shop now

He knows they are a waste of time that's why. They are two players clogging up the squad wage bill who will play a handful of games a season at best.

Did Bod Hydes become an umpire in South Riding Cricket League/South Yorkshire Cricket League?
