QPR are being strongly linked with an £800,000 transfer deadline-beating swoop for Sheffield United utility man Mikele Leigertwood.

The versatile Leigertwood, who can play in defence or midfield, has been targeted by Loftus Road chief John Gregory to become the first signing once the Flavio Briatore/Bernie Ecclestone takeover goes through before the end of the week.

QPR also look set to sign striker Paul Gallacher, 23, on loan from Blackburn before the transfer window closes on Friday night although Hull City and Stoke City have also been mentioned as possible suitors as well.

800 k and were laughing i dontvalue him at half that, but then im not a scout or a manager.

YES!!!!! There is a God after all!
Is he going to a football club, or just being taken outside and shot? Either or, I'm happy.

Skysports.com understands Queens Park Rangers are lining up a bid for Mikele Leigertwood.

The Sheffield United midfielder is being tipped for a return to the capital, a year after moving to Bramall Lane from Crystal Palace.

He made 19 appearances in the Premier League last season, but was sidelined for a lengthy spell due to injury.

Since Bryan Robson replaced Neil Warnock as manager over the summer, Leigertwood has featured in four of the club's five games of the new campaign.

But that has not stopped Championship rivals QPR from registering an interest in the 24-year-old.

With the transfer window closing on Friday, QPR will have to act quickly to finalise any deal to take Leigertwood to Loftus Road.

If I'm honest, I'm glad he will be going, but can't help think that he will be actually IMPROVE the QPR side.

I'd have accepted a lot less if truth be told.

There appears to be a glaring error here.

It should say "The versatile Leigertwood, who can't play in defence or midfield"
