Anybody worried about relegation?

Can we just sack the players? Im sure Phipps is some big shot lawyer. Surely he can find a loophole in employment law.

We need to stop buying and loaning players from leagues above. They are expensive and not equipped to get out of this league.

I know I can't see what Adkins see's, but can't we just say to Hammond, thanks for tonights goal, thanks for at least considering putting a bit of effort in, thanks for the wayward passes (but we have enough on the books who are capable of this), sorry Dean it's just no worked out. For Edgar, read the same (minus the goal).

The last time we graced the 4th division, we stormed it first time with a vengeance. I rather suspect that if it happened, things would be rather different, and it would take us another 5 or 6 years to get back up.

Indeed, and if you looked back at the threads from a few years ago you'd see a lot off amusing posts about how relegation to this tier was a blessing in disguise, a chance to ship out the dead wood and be born anew, fresh with a newly minted Deane and Agana (we signed them last time, surely we'd have the same luck with strikers this time! That's just logic) storm back up through the third tier and straight back up to our rightful place in the Premiership.

It was desperate stuff, no doubt if relegation to the fourth were to loom again we'd see the same old claptrap about it being best for the club and how glorious it was last time we were there.

We are no longer the Chelsea of the 3rd division. We are starting to look like the new Portsmouth. :(

The new Portsmouth!!!!!!

They just beat York 6-0. Does anyone seriously believe this squad of Sheffield United players could beat even a Sunday league side 6-0, because I don't.

No guts, no heart, no pride, no hope. Pathetic.

The only way out of this mess is a new board, new manager and to build a new team. Adkins was my first choice but he's left me scratching my head. This is the first time in 42yrs I feel ashamed to call my self a blade

Of the available managers, I think he was everyone's choice mate, and even then we were not sure we could get him. I can't understand what has gone wrong. One promotion on your CV could be a fluke, but two, three, etc., tells you that the man does know what he is doing, so what is going wrong?

I would argue this is the worse situation in the clubs history and I followed them all the way from the 1st to the 4th to the PL and back down to here.

When we were in the forth the gap between the top and bottom leagues wasn't as wide as the gap between the third and the PL

While I would say that the actual relegation to the Fourth Division, for this once great club, was probably the bleakest moment, worse than today's situation, somehow it doesn't feel like it, we are on a real slippery slope, anyone at Port Vale, Oldham, away games, etc., will have been worried back then.

Yep, and who scored a hat trick?

Not a chance! Too many teams that are worse than us - well that's what I'm praying for anyway!

So, who is worse than us at the moment. Crewe? Shrewsbury? Colchester?

I really don't see anyone worse than us. I see a few on a par with us , but not worse.

There is a chance we can go down (and if anyone can fook it up so bad, United can). But I don't see us getting relegated, I think we'll finish mid-table at best. The summer can't come soon enough, then we get release all the shit who's contracts are up.

I disagree, I feared for our championship status before that season even started.

As for this season, it's shaping up nicely as a reincarnation of 1980-1.
as i said in another thread, this team really reminds me of that 80-1 team. .full of crocked old journeymen and inconsistent kids..we could go into freefall if we aren't careful

Warnock and Bassett used to sign players for next to nowt from lower league and non-league clubs. They were always motivated and put in a shift.

Ah but Warnock and Bassett were passionate managers who could make a silk purse out of a sow's ear. Adkins, on the other hand...

On to the game at Barnsley. Thank fuck Barnsley ended their 8-game losing run last Saturday. Oh, we'll still lose but at least we won't be ending another teams bad run of form.

I don't think they'll go down but it's still far more likely than promotion. The danger stems from the fact that the situation is snowballing and getting worse. Defensive problems have turned into problems throughout the team. This has led to a loss of confidence in the players which is in no way helped by the mood of the supporters worsening as games drift by.

The optimistic will point at the league table and suggest "we're not that far away, we just need to put a run together".....well tell me where that run is going to come from and what evidence you base it on. The team is sliding down the league table for a reason. I do think the slide will be halted and I think it will be purely due to changes in personnel along with the poor quality of our opposition. Only a huge turnover of playing staff will give us a chance of moving in the right direction again.

When we were 10 points clear of relegation in the Premier League I knew that the whole world would conspire against us and send us down.
I said we'd get relegated from the Championship after we lost the play off against Burnley and was ridiculed for it on another board.
I said we'd revisit the 4th Division after losing to Yeovil in the play offs and I feel I will be right again within the next year or so.
Negativity ? No not really
There is no limit to how low this w@nk club can fall and it has been demonstrated time and time again by it's transfer policy.
Sell anyone that is half decent (I wont say good) because we've never had a truly good player.
Buy injured, old, slow, fat, uninspiring nobodies that cant get a game anywhere else.
They'll never change and that's why I told them to fuck off years ago.

And until we get a foreign owner who spends his time here we wont be going anywhere only further down the pyramid.

I really think Wednesday landed the killer blow when they pipped us to promotion a few years ago. It's just taken the club this long to bleed out.

Don't give those cunts any credit. We're more than capable of fucking things up ourselves.

Call me a crazy fucked up stupid moron, but no, I don't have any worries over relegation.

Last time we got relegated to the 4th we pissed the league at the first attempt

yeah, but that was then, this is now. History doesn't always repeat itself or we'd be doing a Southampton now. I really hope we don't go down.
