From the subtitles I read, Virgo said of teams playing at Bramall Lane " When you go to Bramall Lane, you have to up your game. Bramall Lane is a good stadium. The away team manager will say you should put pressure on Sheffield United. During the match the home fans were booing their home team."

It is hard to disagree with someone who knows what it is like being a professional footballer for over 10 seasons. Many managers and players also knowledgeable fans have said the same....

The disquiet and booing after the second goal on the Kop after the second goal was the loudest I have heard yet this season. But what followed, in my opinion, was a bit of response from the players as they pretty much scrapped their way back into the match.

Not suggesting it's the way forward, but if the inconsistency continues, it will be...

Wouldn't normally boo during the game but did briefly after the second goal went in. Was told by someone near me that booing was spoiling it for other fans. Sorry but I thought the players on the pitch were doing that. Sometimes you have to let players know that what they are serving up is not acceptable, particularly as recent weeks have shown it is not exactly a one off. I remember once under Warnock when the players were booed off at half time he said I felt like booing them as well. Players have to look at themselves and ask why fans are booing.

I agree that it doesn't help but we also didn't start playing until we went 2-0 down.

The team can't think that was acceptable.
Seems like we upped our game when the second went in and the atmosphere turned.

Our manager and owners have urged patience, but patience is running out - rightly so. 19007 fans did their bit, there is only so long we can be patient with that crap.

Great response but we should never have allowed ourselves to be in that position in the first place.

I booed after the second Southend goal. The players deserved that and to their credit they performed far better thereafter.

The guy 5 seats to the right of me went on one of the funniest pissed up rants I've ever heard, last 10 minutes at least. Think he was still ranting even after we'd equalised...

This has been going on for 3 or 4 seasons now. We need to clear out the squad and start building again. It might be slow, might be painful, but the players just aren't mentally up for it. The legacy of Clough is a squad full of players who aren't mentally strong, aren't consistent and are injury prone. We need to break the cycle.

You don't need to be a professional for over 10 years to know that home team fans will get restless if the away team takes charge.

Dont remember anyobe booing when we werent timid wankers getting rolled over meekly every week at home
Wonder if the two things are linked

And two other things who the fuck is adam virgo and who gives a shit what he thinks

Ex players always defend the pros and slag us know nothing fans

Yet somehow this bunch of lightweight prima donnas fought back from an aggregate 5-1 down away in the play-offs last season, and instead of spitting out their dummies have come from behind on several occasions this season.

Anyone from here sitting near the back of gangway A on the South Stand?

There's a few folk up there on the back row who shout the most witless shite, and encourage their kids to do the same. Always during a quiet moment so they get heard.

I really wish they'd fook off or shut up.

But this is repeatedly and explicitly applied to what happens at Sheffield United.

The opposition see some of the home crowd as an asset.

We hear this time and time again and still deny it.

I'm sure they are all good lads etc. But it's a performance business and they just aren't performing and haven't done consistently for 18 months. In any walk of life, if you are paying the best money for the best people, you expect results. They aren't delivering.

We were at the back of gangway G for yesterdays game and what surprised me were an absolute bucket load of people who did NOTHING when we scored our first goal - no clapping, no standing up - no encouragement to try and go on.

Yes we were shit for 30 minutes, but still 60 minutes left ..AND - look how we responded.

Just amazes me at time.

NOW - Where is the poster who wants to slag me off for having a go at the fans sat in front?

Just a small amount of passion wouldn't go amiss but doing fuck all is just too much.

I'll put my hand up. The combination of my general mood due to the news from Paris, the awfulness of our performance, the fact I was soaked through, late arriving at the match, and the pitiful nature of our goal all led to me sitting there and shaking my head.

An existential moment. :)

PS - I forgot to mention a mild hangover and the effects of eating too much Korean food.... My excuses are endless.

What an odd example to pick to support last years team.

The team that allowed themselves to be 5-1 down in the play offs and 'fought back' but were never on level terms.

I'd try again if I were you.

I wonder why we were so poor at Oldham, Crewe, Gillingham and Port Vale?

Or is that the fault of our travelling fans?

As I understand it the question was fight and/or belief.

Yesterday and away at Swindon were two examples of where the players have clearly demonstrated fight and belief.

Yesterday I'd say they showed more fight and belief than some of the fans.

At Swindon it was more of a stunned silence, but the players fought back.

Yesterday there was (alliteratively) audible active antipathy even hostility from some of the crowd.

The players got us back in the game.

I take the point about wanting more.from what we've got but I don't think belief is the issue.

extremely generous post - you were one of many though, perhaps they were all the worse for the night before! - hope the head is better today :)

I didn't boo but I certainly stood up and asked where their backbone was and why were so many of them hiding

In that first thirty minutes there was only Adams who showed any sort of fight and interest. Perhaps some of these lads would be better playing in front of 5,000 rather than 19,000

answered your own question mate.. coming back from five down? we shouldn't be five down.. coming back on several occaisions.. why don't the players start unless they are behind?

This could be their cunning plan.
