He said "alluded" three times in his interview and I reckon that could become a staple of Adkins bingo in the coming months. It's an easy one to drop in if he refers back to something earlier in the conversation.

I am worried where this season is going, three or four more defeats before January and a mid table finish might be a bit of a relief.

The similarity between this side and the side that got relegated down in 2010 / 11 is striking.

Thankfully in this league although we are poor there are some sides that are truly shyte so we should be okay...

He's at it again on FH tonight. 'We're 16 games in...' Yeah, that's over a third of the season gone, 7 wins out of 16 and, not including exits from the League Cup and JPT. He's allowing the players to think that sideways and backwards passing is acceptable. It's not. It's the soft option/shadow play. I fully expect the fans will soon get the blame for 'making the players nervous about trying anything.' He's no nearer to turning the team around - who finished miles off the pace last season - than the day he arrived.

We'll see the same old, same old tomorrow. Ten passes across the pitch/backwards (at a pace where the opposition are more likely to die of boredom than be caught off-balance). Then the 'killer ball' or cross - straight to the opposition.

Personally, I think NA is drowning not waving and it's horrible to think that yet another manager has failed to turn us round. If you don't believe me, come back after we've played Wigan on Boxing Day when, given the upcoming fixtures, I fully expect us to be (a lot) nearer the bottom than the top.

As posted elsewhere I'd rather we had the ball than the opposition had the ball. We can hoof it up to Brian Deane - but he's not there any more.

I don't think he's allowing the players to think it's acceptable. I think he's encouraging them to believe at times it's the best way to play - and at times it is.

As for the fans: the vocal negativity is reaching the players. It's already undermined the confidence of our young lifelong Blade back up keeper and probably (according to what at least one caller to FH saw and heard) adversely affected our club captain - who when you actually look at how he's played hasn't done that badly - though I'm not a fan. Then there's the vocal abuse of the whole team commented on by opposition fans who have remarked how quick the fans were to turn on the team.

Given backing and time to operate he's demonstrated repeatedly he can be successful.

Supporting Adkins and his project is our only way out of this mess.

If this doesn't work nothing in the foreseeable future will.

Warnocks interviews were great in my opinion, passionate and often humorous and hed never slag his own players, often blames the ref which used to annoy people but on the majority of times he did I think he had valid points, he spoke like a fan rather than a manager which I liked.

Cloughs were no nonsense interviews and he came across like he was speaking the truth and as someone else mentioned he sounded like he was hurting after a loss.

Adkins, is full of shit and spin which I cant stand, there's no point trying to spin something which we've all seen with our own eyes

I think Sam Allardyce once said you can't fool twenty odd thousand fans.

I don't think ANY of Adkins signings have been worth a toss, I do think Woolford was brought in as a hurried replacement for the soon to depart Murphy and Billy Blunt was just the crowd sweetener, as for Hammond what does Adkins see in him ? I'd send him back in the morning he is fucking rubbish and even slower than Billy in his third failed stint at the lane. Sammon, surely this loan was arranged by Clough who else would want this bald headed donkey ? Edgar looked half decent in his first few games or was it Jay Mc who made him look good to us, whatever we soon knocked any quality out of him as we seem to do with any player we sign of late.

Can't send Hammond back, he's too slow, he'll miss the bloody bus.

I never listen to these supposed interviews as him, as a person, gets on my nerves.

He's full of cliches, sayings and other prepared phrases but hardly ever is there any actual substance behind them.

He's getting more and more annoying as the days go by. And that's an aside from the remarkably poor managerial performance to date.

He was like that in his earlier interviews it's true. He was trying not giving owt away when asked about selections and there's not really a lot to say when you have just started the job (but they are still expected to come out with summat). But you can't say that about his latest interviews, they are getting more interesting and he is opening up a bit now on his thoughts about some of the shite he inherited. I still think he is the man to take us up, if he goes I can't see anyone else who could come in to this situation and do much.

You get a lot of examples where reactions to stuff wouldn't have had the same reactions 5 or 10 years ago in football. This is a classic case. Has it only been the last 2 or 3 years ago that Radio Sheffield have posted unedited 10-15 minute interviews online for all to listen to, rather than in the past where at best there'd be a couple of edited minutes broadcast ahead of the kickoff? I don't think I'd read any online critique of pre-match manager interviews before Clough was appointed.

Adkins comes across as someone that is very well media trained for formats that are edited. He will continually reiterate sentences and points at different bits of an interview, because he realises stuff will get chopped down. The idea of a full 15 minute pre-match interview where everything is kept in is, frankly, completely new. Adkins's style is well-suited to the edited interview – less so to the long format, where repeating yourself suggests you have little to say (rather than keeping to what you consider being a strong message).

Of course, this could be part of the Great Radio Sheffield Conspiracy that a few on this forum seem to believe in.
