The Clough Years - A Revisionist Perspective

It'll be intersting to see how he's judged after some time has passed.

One thought:

Nigel I signs them, Nigel II turns them into good players, thereby making Nigel I look like a shrewd judge of footballing potential.

I'd guess history will remember him as a manager who took over a weak, insipid, relegation threatened L1 side and took them to two cup semi-finals and a playoff semi-final in eighteen months.
And then was sacked, apparently because he wouldn't make up with a past it centre half and a never will be striker who refuses to track back.

If we play like that we have to get the full backs charging up and down the wings, ideal for Brayford but Freeman is a good player too ( offensively anyway).

Basham at the back, Coutts and Hammond in the holding positions. What Coutts lacks in pace and mobility I reckon he can make up for in experience, particularly with Hammond alongside him.

In a short while:

Keeper.

Brayford, Edgar/ Collins, Basham, Harris/ Wallace

Coutts, Hammond

Done Baxter Adams

Sharp

Well I for one can't complain about team selection if we don't win today ( see above). Confident that this is the blueprint. Add Brayford to today's team and watch us go.

Baxter just has to excel in this team and in his best position.

Those who watched him I think would say he's a decent enough bloke but his overriding negativity, stubbornness and rather small time mentality stopped him from progressing with our club.
He's much more suited to managing a small, lower league plucky underdog.

Better get him back quick

Or another;

Nigel I signs them, Nigel II gets rid the minutes their contracts expire. I bet I'm right, on the whole.

Or:

Nigel II continues to make mistakes of a similar calibre to Nigel I, with both going down in SUFC history as a pair of numpties.

And you will remain a complete fucking numpty, whichever scenario plays out.

I've always said it takes a few games for a new formation to bed in!!!;););)

No excuses, good title.
