we are still 7th not 17th so realistically a run of 3 or 4 wins puts us back in the frame, it can pick up as fast as its deteriorated, but we do need our best players

I didn't say it had been addressed before ,it clearly hadn't ,but Adkins has been in the job for long enough to realise that this is where the problem needs looking at. If not he hasn't done enough research about us and Collins must look like fucking Beckenbaur in training.

He's not, and Leicester won't expect us to pay his full wage. They right now are paying his full wage so I understand your a man of business and you understand negotiation and sometimes you just have to pay over the going rate to get where you want. Every signing we have been involved with since he's been here has been long drawn out. The fact that Adkins has twice named Mal Branigan in interviews when players have not come, even when saying he's doing all he can is saying a lot more than that in my view.

But Brannigan can only negotiate with what he is being given ,if it isn't enough we have to look elsewhere instead of wasting vital time on a player who is out of reach. Personally I have never seen Hammond and I doubt many more on here have ,so cant comment on how important he would be.

Spot on ,take Hammond for instance , how is Brannigan supposed to change the mind of a player on 20 odd k a week in the premier league to join a 3rd division outfit for 5k a week ? Players like Grant at Port Vale are the ones we should be looking at and stop kidding ourselves we are a massive club.

Exactly, if port Vale can get these sort of players just what is our problem ? Bury have made some cracking signings this summer and the likes of Jacob Mellis made our midfield look a right set of cunts. other teams with players you have hardly heard of no big names regularly run through our lot as though they aren't there. Its not rocket science to fix the squad we have but the loan window has been open long enough now for us to have brought someone in.

We could sort this out rather easily but at the moment the club don't seem that bothered.

That's right, all we need are lists of players off the other 91 clubs of the players who they would loan.

Scouts rummage through their note books and recommend which ones to run with.

We are only 5 points off the top 2 at present and with 2 or 3 additions to the squad and Done and Brayford back,we can challenge for automatic promotion.
We still need at least 1 CH,1 if not 2 centre midfielders and a decent keeper.
There are players that are decent but not good enough to win promotion.
I am still optimistic that we can do it with some good transfer/loan business between now and January

Why does he deserve better ,he isn't doing us a favour for nowt. He is being well paid to do a great job as manager of Sheffield United ,he isn't doing it very well at the moment. I think he will pull it round and it is very early in his reign but tactically, motivationally and other allys he hasn't got right yet. He has his own back room staff ,more money than most and a bigger club to attract players to ,he is only 10 games into his job. He is part of the problem at the moment and he has to show that he is a good manager. Give him chance and time but don't give him fucking apologies.

Too right Adkins has to take some of the flack he dosent deserve any apologies.
He's made some bad selection decisions.
First impressions of Edgar was good but the guys a liability.
Baxters bone idle he's got issues.
Freeman, Flynn,Mceverly (made him captain what a joke),Coutts sorry he's a carrying a chronic injury .
Get these out on loan but don't play them.

quite true,but the fact is we have lost 4 games to teams we should have beaten and now we are playing catch up yet again,even with the players you mention we would have to go on a spectacular run to finish in the automatic spots

If we just get in that goalscoring centre forward we need and a centre half defensive midfielder we will romp this league

He's done much more than "ok" since he came here.
For all Clough's faults, Done was the exact sort of player we should be going for- proven pedigree in THIS league.

How many times have we said that so far this season.

You look at any teams highlights who are wanting promotion and they all have players working their nuts off. We just don't seem to have that hunger anymore.

Nigel Clough created many of these issues. However, an underlying problem since before him, is panic signings. That's why Adkins should take his time.

Yes I did ,the lack of centre halves was a big problem and I said so ,I agreed and still do about Collins and Butler ,they are both shit. I also disagreed with him getting shut of Doyle ,we haven't had a decent midfield performance since he left. He wasn't the answer but bonkers to let him go until we got a replacement.

Its always when such and such an overrated journeyman returns, not now..oh not now. Too much strain upon our remarkably talented squad to do it now.

I normally let bullshit go by me but on this occasion:-

1. The notion that Sheffield United is a great job is a very questionable one at best.

2. He doesn't have to show anyone that he's a good manager. He has nothing to prove on that front. His record speaks for itself, ours on the other hand.....

We're one point ahead of where we were last season. The league is wide open and a weaker squad last year got us into the top 6. Given 2 or 3 signings, we could have a good run at the top 2.

The problems are there for all to see and I can't really be arsed going into them as it won't achieve anything. But I think the penny dropped with Adkins and he's realised that good trainers, nice lads, hard workers up at Shirecliffe just aren't good enough / able to produce the good, consistent performances he requires.

Five or six signings needed to make top two with time to bed in. Time we don't have.

What we need to do, and havent really done in the time we have been in league one is raid other teams for their best players. Even looking to teams in league two. We are always after players who have 'championship' quality, who are mostly on the downward spiral of their careers. We complain enough avout other teams taking our best players, why cant we do it to others?
