I'd go with...

Howard

Flynn Edgar Collins Wallace

Adams Baxter Basham Done

Sharp Sammon

I think we might keep the same back 4 from Tuesday but I personally think although harsh on Freeman I would stick Flynn in there.

Thoughts and suggestions please :D

Maybe swap Coutts for Flynn
Done on the bench, I doubt he is fit enough to start just yet maybe 10 minutes at the end.

Think Done did 90mins the other night didn't he? Either way he is a massive (sorry) bonus for us.

I dont know how much game time he got wednesday night... maybe someone will inform us.

Even if he did play 90 mins at U21 level I still don't think he would be ready for a start at senior level. Id much rather him take 3-4 weeks longer to come back and stay fit rather than rushing him back and hes out injured again after a couple of games.

I agree RM rushing him back would be no benefit but I think the difference between this management and the last simply would not allow that to happen.

There is still time for Done to hit 15 goals this season ;) so the sooner he is back the better.

I think that is probably a big part of our injury problems, rushing players back. Granted a few are having their first injuries for quite a while.

You just have to look at J Wallace.

True but I don't think J Wallace will ever be 100% injury free mate.

Assumptions- Nobody comes in. Baxter is fit. Done is only up to a run out from the bench (building match fitness)

If it's going to be a bit of a battle, Coutts offers more strength and height in the middle than Reed / Baxter.

Done won't be ready to start i don't think. Think you are harsh on Freeman. He's been excellent. I also thought Woolford offered more than Flynn the other night.

Done and Woolford to come on when the game is stretched.

Adkins said in his pre match interview that vale's ground is especially wide so one way or another, I think we will play with 5 across the middle. I don't know whether that will be at the expense of a striker (hope not, I'm still not recovered from the endless 1 up front games under Clough), defender (I really doubt it) or by using the full backs to overlap and give extra width. I'd like to see the full backs giving the width and have a tight 4 midfield, not sure if the formatting/spacing will work....

My question to you was 'no sharp'?
I never mentioned Adkins, so your answer is no sharp as you don't rate him. That's fair enough but a little 'out there' as he is joint top scorer and he's well on course for being our 20 goal a season goal striker.
But hey ho personal opinions (& agendas) and all that.
Can you seriously suggest a better striker than sharp that would drop to division 3?

Trivial stat of the week.

Port Vale are currently 13th. Sheffield United have failed to beat any team in the top 13 so far this season.

Personally I would have (if all fit)

Howard
Freeman Collins Edgar McEveley
JCR Basham Coutts Adams
Sharp Sammon

Bench
Long
Alcock
Wallace (K)
Flynn
Reed
Baxter
Done

well I like to be controversial ;)

(I also think that Wallace actually makes as many and the same mistakes as McEveley but isnt picked up on them by the masses)

I'd love this to work. I just don't think there's enough in the center of the park, i always want to play a guy like Baxter but I think Coutts has a more rounded game-so would probably get my vote.
That said, with Done and Che on the wings it would really stretch their midfield and maybe give Bash and Jose more time on the ball.

Question isn't "what do you think Adkins will do", it's "your starting 11", and I wouldn't have signed Sharp in the first place
JT64, having watched the first 2 months of the season, what has been your view of Sharp so far?

My team would be

Howard

Freeman Collins Edgar K Wallace

Done Coutts Basham Adams

Sharp Sammon

Baxter for Coutts when he runs out of legs
Flynn for Done when he runs out of legs
JCR on to chase it, if things aren't going to plan
