Positives:
  • Decent enough point in the grand scheme of things
  • Nice to finally keep a clean sheet.
  • Matty Done back in the squad
  • An unbeaten run of two
  • This post is in the right place
Negatives:
  • Those above winning
  • Lack of any real quality
  • Do we really look like a team who will be promoted? Automatically or otherwise
  • Our record against sides towards the top of the table
  • Sky Sports think we've done well to "hold Burton Albion
Missed anything out?

Practise and learn how to take throw ins and corners.

Positives: Clean sheet, we did the basics very well most of the game and looked in control, we were solid at the back, Wallace had another decent game.

Negatives: A real lack of cutting edge and surprisingly showing very little intention of going and winning what was a very winnable game. That double substitution was nonsensical and made us so much weaker.

Why have Done on the bench if those two are going to be brought on in front of him?

What we should have done is gone with three in central midfield with Flynn on the right and Done on the left - giving us three attacking threats instead of one (Sharp) and allowing Coutts to stay on the pitch as without him we lacked composure and creativity. It would've also helped us to maintain our grip on the game late into the second half when Burton finish strongly as they always do, being a fit side.

Real wasted opportunity tonight but not a bad point.

Is Coutts up to it though? We seem to be bringing him back slowly, not rushing it. Maybe long term it's better we took him off?

The three in midfield experiment seems to have been abandoned straight after it having worked so well. A real shame.

Adkins suggested both of those subbed were knackered, which given they're just returning from injury is understandable. Shame Done wasn't one of those brought on mind.

I wouldn't have brought Done on ,there was no room on the pitch ,it was very tight ,not his type of game ,and bringing him on cold to a fast game like that could have been dangerous for the shoulder.

I'm hoping we can hold Fleetwood and one or two other of the big teams this season too Pete. The shame of how others see us now :(

Che sounds like he's a divy off the pitch?

If you were there Ricky didn't you think both coutts and flynn. . were running on empty in the 2nd half players coming back from injury
And not yet 100% match fit.coutts especially had a good game (influential ) and to risk him at this stage would be foolish,in my opinion
He's going to be a big player for us this season.

Maybe those two were tired but we still could've made better tactical and personnel changes. It would've just meant Scougall going into central midfield and Woolford going on the right, with Done on the left and Sharp on his own up front (he might as well have been anyway). More control in midfield, less exposed to counter attacks and wingers in positions where they can threaten. We would've been stronger offensively and defensively this way. Maybe Done got injured in the warm ups or something because if you're trying to win that game he's the first one to bring on.

Pity the poor young footballers... big pay, nice car, lot's of attention, head turned, young and susceptible to temptation, all come to quickly... blah blah blah.

Grow up you fool, best job in the world and you care not if you throw it away.

One positive on that note though.
I've just listened to Adkins talk about the incident on radio sheffield and he's filled me with confidence that he's the man to keep Che on the straight and narrow.

This club is fucked, if supporters are now proclaiming themselves 'happy with a point at Burton.'

Can you imagine such things being said even 5 years ago?

could you imagine Bournemouth being in the prem 5 years ago
5 years ago today they were 21st in league one

And 5 years ago you were confidently predicting promotion,,,,,,,,,
was unaware of cheds actions 5 years ago

weve been close but no cigar so far
3rd 5th 7th 5th wasnt far out

not like weve been avoiding relegation on last day like some said

Unfair and untrue.

He was predicting we wouldn't get relegated from the Championship.

think everybody thought that until march
or hoped it at least
except for maybe one or two who enjoy the misery
I only accepted relegation only when after wiping the floor with boro and missing 10 open goals then they broke away to snatch it

And many confidently predicted that it would 'do us good' allow us to 'clearout and start again' and storm the 3rd division.

Am still waiting :-(

Agreed. Just bc he's a good player doesn't mean he was good for that game at that time.

Sometimes a manager makes a puzzling decision, from this you can either deduce:

(1) he's an idiot and you know far better
or
(2) he's using his vast amount of professional experience to make a judgement call based on myriad factors you are almost completely unaware of.

Sometimes it's (1) - most of the time it's not.
