The Blades travel to Northern Ireland for the first team pre-season tour.

For more information on Newry, see HERE

Is anyone planning to go to the Ireland games?

Iam going to the Newry game - going for the day from Newc. to Belfast for 07:55 in Belfast then the train to Newry :)

How much is that costing if you dont mind me asking Stuie?

I'm flying over to dublin and driving up to Newry. £16 return on ryanair. Got tickets a couple of weeks ago so it may be more expensive now.
Even so, it might still be cheaper to fly to Dublin and catch a train up to Newry. Just a thought.

theres 2 ways becuase Newry is on the train link between Belfast and Dublin
- 1 1/2 hours both ways apparantly - i got some cheapo tickets from easyjet website - £17 going and £23 coming back the train fare will be about £13 apparantly - i rang Belfast train station to find out but you can't book in advanced - its about a 20min walk from Newry station to the ground at a guess from some Irish website or other

S'all good, landing in Dublin Saturday morning. Pick the car up from Avis - drop all the baggage off at a campsite on the way (yet to be decided)... up to Newry, back down again :)

Sat waitin for the teams to come back out. Blades 1-0 up from quinn as you already know. Don't think we'll see any subs yet as they are all Still messing about in one of nets. Will try and attach some pics in a min.

FT 3-1 to the Blades.

Webber on 90 mins after 2 or 3 players had shots on goal.

Michael Tonge netted a free from the edge of the penalty area to restore United's lead on 80 minutes and Barry Webber added a third near the end.

GO ON BARRY!!

They got Phil Yagyellka right last season didnt they??

Hope Nobbo wasn't driving there, Newry is north of Dublin...........

:D:D:D

From the OS.....

Sheffield United's pre-season tour party landed safely in Belfast on Friday and immediately started preparations for the first fixture of the three game trip, against Newry City on Saturday at 2.30pm.

In fact the group went straight to the town - about 35 miles south of Dublin - and trained at Newry's Showgrounds stadium in the afternoon.

We are currently sat in Starbucks typing a bit of a match report. Got plenty of pics and a few vids for you all... including a video of the Newry goal and of Tongeys free kick (and goal).

Not sure how many others are staying locally, the only other blade we've seen since the match was when a certain Mr Shred walked by as we set off for a drive this morning.
