Allow me:

But not necessarily a poor one for us if we start to find those players who can earn us promotion.

Which, of course, we have form for doing. I mean ... we signed ... erm ... yeah ... who got us promotion ... and whatshisname who ... got us promotion ...

We aren't going up until we get consistency. Murphy wasn't and wouldn't be the answer to any questions surrounding promotion.

Murphy was our only real goal threat and consistently drew their defensive resources toward him whenever he got the ball. He was our best player, and by dint of fact you say he was inconsistent, shows what a shit situation we were in and what a shit situation we will be in. I guarantee there will be no replacement ... it will be if anything spent on centre backs, which is what the fucking Maguire money should have gone on.

pommpey

why dont we move the shit on then instead of our better players?

No pain , no gain . Remember this group failed and put in some dire performances last season . I am going with the boards and Adkins judgement . I have no choice .

Lets judge at the end of the season or do we sack the board and Adkins now . Let the the patients take over the asylum.

UTB.

I haven't suggested sacking Adkins.

I'll answer that, and have a think about my suggestion:

What if we went up? Well, obviously this squad as it stands would be torn a new arsehole even by the lesser teams above us. It would need radical strengthening in all areas, or Saturday's penising by Gillingham would seem like a decent afternoon out in Kent.

This obviously involves investment, doesn't it? McCabe doesn't like investing in the team much as we have seen. Whilst cabbages buy up the season tickets before we have kicked a fucking football for the new season based upon empty optimism in Positive Nige and all the assumed stardust he can sprinkle on our squad of losers, McCabe is happy. He can shove a lot of cash the way of a new Desso pitch, like we don't fucking need centre backs at all and our midfield is strong and agile and we are booting goals in for fun.

So it suits him to underplay the squad, as long as there are 15k+ through the turnstiles and this years kit is flying off the shelves.

Big city, small town club.

That's why.

pommpey
Yes small club your rite, premiership is 23 seasons old we've been there for 3. We have languished around the lower leagues more or less since we formed. No trophy since 1925, what do you think we should be or where should we be?? It puzzles me that people think we should be signing so an so not selling him an pushing for this. Yes we should be pushing for promotion but then what? More huge expectations from deluded people asking why aren't we top of the championship. Wake up smell the coffee we are where we are if it wasn't for McCabe we may not even be around any more or re branded as The United or United blades just like Rangers!!

An that's not a dig Pomp, just my view!

I haven't suggested sacking Adkins.

Me neither.

Adkins will join the gathering litany of unfortunates lured into Bramall Lane on shit promises - or in some cases abject abeyance to the board's instructions.

Adkins must be thinking, "I have a massive derby tomorrow against a side renowned for upsetting the apple cart after a slapping last week and a struggle midweek and now my best player is gone, and I have a sackful of injuries as well. Why did I take this fucking job?"

Murphy was our only real goal threat

17 GOALS IN 3 YEARS

AND WE CANT DO BETTER

you think[/QUOTE]

And he made how many?

His work out on the flank in the last two seasons has been excellent. As I say, for every extra player he draws in to negate his threat, opens up a hole elsewhere. It isn't his fault we have no visionaries to exploit that.

What if he's thinking "I hope I've done the right thing in sanctioning the sale pre-match, we'd better put in the performance I think we can" ?

Do we then want rid of him as well as the board? or do we give him time to see if it was the right thing to do?

So you are accepting we are merely a Div One standard club and we should be happy with that?

Fucking hell.

No. As I say, I feel sorry for Adkins. He can't work miracles with dogshit. And that now, is all we have.

Well riddle me this;

Why would our money orientated board not want us out of this division, when there is a bigger pot of gold to be had in the two above us?
Ok fair dos but it's a very Blades way of doing things. Like the McD transfer two years, ago, this, was planned all summer. Like McD, and the aftermath thereof, the atmosphere will be fucking sour almost instantly if we fuck up badly in tomorrows match or next few games.

Well, show me the absolute proof that the repeated selling of our best players and replacement with substandard disproves my theory.

Start with this:

"For the past three seasons, we have sold our best players at key moments in the campaign and not signed ones that have significantly altered our form or got us promoted"

Now show me I am wrong.

pommpey

I start with - show me the absolute proof that the board are happy for us to remain in this league and don't want us out of it? And don't give me rubbish about selling players, it's a business, all teams sell their best players regardless of if you're Sheffield United or Manchester United. (Speaking of Man Utd...one of biggest clubs in the world......I remember a certain Cristiano Ronaldo, not just the best player at Man Utd but arguably one of the best players in the World, being sold)

McDonald - was unexpected I admit that.

Maguire - open secret that he forced the clubs hand in getting a transfer otherwise he wouldn't have gone as this board rejected (yes that's REJECTED) the approaches from Hull and it was us, thanks to player power of wanting to actually move to a club in the premier league offering him more money that we then went crawling to Hull and asked if they still wanted to buy him (after they moved onto their other target whom they actually signed before Maguire went there).

Murphy - we did reject several bids last season. Murphy wanted to talk to the club who are in a higher division and who no doubt are in a position to offer better terms, which he took. If we then started playing the Maguire game, and he spat his dummy out, then where would we be? Another player forcing the club to sell him because he knows he can?

Let me each of those into normal working man/non-football terms.....
You do you job, you do it well, another company wants you to work for them. This company is bigger than the one you are currently at and conduct their business and work at higher levels, working for them would enable you to also work at a higher level, where you can showcase your talents and show how good you really are. In order to persuade you to join them (as if the lure of working at a larger company at a higher level isn't enough) they also offer to double/treble your wages.
What normal person turns that down? Other than those content with being big fish in very small puddles.
There is hardly any loyalty left in football these days.

You can't state that the circumstances of today are comparable to the last two seasons where we never replaced players in key players when they moved on (McDonald et al.). We have a players who can play in Murphy's position and the transfer window isn't closed so we may yet sign some more players. As I've said on another thread, if we went up this season no one will bat an eyelid that Murphy went.

Start your crying game on 1st September, and even more so afterwards if no one is brought in on loan, not yet, not at this early stage of the season.

Oddly, I had an inkling this was about to happen.

I just saw it on facebook and yelled out, "NO FUCKING WAY!" much to the startlement of my missus.

I just can't see how people are being so sanguine about this. It's a fucking disastrous day for United.

pommpey
I said in May I couldn't care less if he goes as hes overrated to fuck by our fans. Yet hes the only saleable asset and they sell him. Sad money filching shithouses.

So you are accepting we are merely a Div One standard club and we should be happy with that?

Fucking hell.

pommpey
Not at all, I believe we are a mid table championship club, but at this minute were not. That's the reality!

had we sold Murphy first then bought sharp
would that still be short sighted
one in one out
think youll find most clubs do that
next question is murphy better than sharp

have we really weakened the squad with these 2 bits of business not one both

so brayford sharp done are all dog shit
all 3 bought this year all dogshit
4 and a bit million blown

4 and a bit million you say we arent spending to try and move forward

£4.5m for Sharp, Brayford and Done.

Do you really think we have paid that for all 3?

Really?

To me it isn't a disastrous day. Sure Jamie Murphy on his day was terrific to watch. But how many times did he flatter to deceive? How many times (last season mainly) did he have little to know effect in games? Teams that earn promotion don't have players like that. Bristol City, MK Dons and Preston weren't reliant on a far too inconsistent winger. I'm surprised that Brighton wanted him so badly to have spent over £1.5m on him (presuming the rumours are correct). He isn't going to displace LuaLua. Poor move in my opinion for Murphy. But not necessarily a poor one for us if we start to find those players who can earn us promotion. We aren't going up until we get consistency. Murphy wasn't and wouldn't be the answer to any questions surrounding promotion.
If he was we would be a division above already.

4 and a bit 4,1
never said 4.5
3.3 in fees 800k in agents fees

or dont agents get any money now in your world
you should look at our accounts
agents fees often overlooked ,are more than some players
