Been watching that Fantasy Football Club on Sky Sports 1 earlier and they have a feature which is called "One to Eleven" which is where i got this idea from.. They basically get celebrities to give their best ever players in any formation they choose, they choose the best players that they would choose to play now if all of them were in their prime, so basically the only rule is the player has to have played at least 1 game for the club.

What would your One to Eleven be? You can state why you choose that player, but you don't have to.

GK: Alan Kelly

RB: Derek Geary
CB: Phil Jagielka
CB: Chris Morgan
LB: Rob Kozluk

RM: Tony Currie
CM: Stuart McCall
CM: Colin Morris
LM: Dane Whitehouse

CF: Brian Deane
CF: Tony Agana

Ones that missed out, Michael Brown, Keith Edwards, Simon Tracey, Shaun Murphy, Michael Tonge and Steve Kabba.

Not seen it, but 'in their prime' implies Rush and Saunders up top would be pretty ace.

GK: Kelly
RB: Badger
CB: Colquhoun
CB: Powell
LB: Shaw G
RW: Woodward
CM: Dellas
CM: Currie
LW: Whitehouse
CF: Deane
CF: Kabba

Subs Tracey. Shaun Murphy, Vas Borbokis Brown, Rioch, Fjortoft, Edwards

Obviously never watched half of these but it's obvious they are some of our greatest ever
Formation 4-4-1-1

(GK) Kenny
Slightly biased as he was a hero of mine growing up but a safe pair of hands that will rarely let us down.

(RB) Walker
Great going forward and defending one of our best academy graduates and will overlap with Woodward very well.

(RCB) Colquhoun
Must have been good to have his name in a song and over 300 appearances.

(LCB) Jagielka
Again great academy graduate who has been a mainstay in the England defense and Everton for the past few years was nearly as good for us as i remember, will also chip in with the occasional screamer.

(LB) Freeman
Was going to go for Kozluk but don't remember enough of him to justify his place in the team from what i have seen of Freeman i like and will do a good enough job in this team.

(RM) Woodward
No explanation really needed, watched some videos of him and that great 70s team simply fantastic.

(CM) Tonge
Going for a solid paring in the middle of Tonge and Brown who know each others game well they might not be to the quality of some of the others but i can't think of any great center midfielders we have had.

(CM) Brown
Dito as above.

(LM) Sabella
To add a little flair and style to this team thought i would add Sabella, don't know if he was able to play on the wing or not but would give him free roam to do what he likes and provide ammunition for Currie and Deane.

(CF) Currie
Again like Woodward does not need an explanation, our greatest ever player who will feed Deane the chances to score and change the game on his own when needed.

(ST) Deane
Watched videos of him on youtube just missed out on being able to watch him in his prime but he will be the perfect striker for this team, he is an aerial threat and a deadly finisher with a decent amount of pace.

I thought the 1 to 11 was actually players naming players they had played with or against in the same era not some half arsed celebs that dont really know what they are talking about and wouldnt know a football if it smacked in the face whose opinions on football based on watching a team a couple of times a season should really count for fuck all

Why not just have a greatest Blades XI you have seen or think you have seen this has been done before quite a lot in the past

Surely greats like Doc Pace, Jimmy Hagan, Alf Ringstead and others, would get a place, if only any of us were around to see them.

For Sabella on the wing, go on youtube for utd v Sunderland 1978, a bbc clip.

Yeah, tried not to put players in who i've not seen play.

GK: Kelly

RB: Vas Borbokis
CB: Paul McGrath (spelling)?
CB: Holdsworth
LB: Nilsen

RM: Hodges
CM: Brown
CM: Bradshaw
LM: Whitehouse

CF: Deano
CF: Beattie

Rush has got to be the best player who ever played for us, even if he was one of the worst.

Agreed. We got the shit end of the stick, but the other end of the stick is one of the finest finisher this country has seen. On that criteria, Gordon Cowans, Paul McGrath, Jimmy Johnstone, Dean Saunders and even Phil Thompson must have a good shout of inclusion.

Forgot about Thompson, him and McGrath at the back, Saunders and Rush up front.

Now where do you enter that European Cup thingy?

GK - Alan Kelly

RB - Kyle Walker
CB - Paul McGrath
CB - Phil Jagielka
LB - Roger Nilsen

RM - Alan Woodward
CM - Gordon Cowans
CM - Tony Currie
LM - Dane Whitehouse

CF - Ian Rush
CF - Brian Deane

*weeps silently when compared with current squad*

In fact GRUMPY BLADE here is an eleven.

Count the caps, count the league titles, count the European Cup/Champions League medals.

Wow this is difficult, I would go with;

GK - Kelly - Best keeper I have seen, Mel Rees could have pushed him

RB - Vas Borbokis - Great over lapping right back
CB - Paul McGrath - Legs had gone but was always in the right place
CB - Chris Morgan - We could do with him now
LB - Martin Pike - Cannot remember that well but what a left back

MF - Bob Booker - Not a great footballer but again loved him growing up
MF - Nick Montgomerie - Again not a great footballer but exactly what we need now, a ball winner
MF - Glyn Hodges - Wonderful left foot and could unlock any defence

ST - Dane Whitehouse - Great all round player and robbed of a great career, Jostein Flo was close
ST - Briane Deane - My hero and part of the best strike force I can remember
ST - Tony Agana - As above

Missed out - Michael Brown because of the season after he scored 17 goals he sulked because he wanted away, Shaun Murphy was close, Mel Rees taken too soon, Wayne Quinn and many more. I haven't had the opportunity to see some of our greater players like Currie etc

In my time watching the blades (99 onwards)
Paddy Kenny
Kyle Walker
Phil Jagielka
Chris Morgan
Derek Geary
Michael Tonge
Kevin McDonald
Michael Brown
Jamie Murphy
James Beattie
Ched Evans

Subs: Simon Tracey, Kyle Naughton, Gary Cahill, Peter Ndlovu, Nathan Dyer, Paul Peschisolido, Wayne (the chief) Allison

Just think what this side would do to this league...

I got interested around 91.

GK. Kelly

RB. Borbokis
CB. Jagielka
CB. Holdsworth
LB. W Quinn (Breakthrough Season)

RM. Tonge (Breakthrough Season)
CM. Dellas
CM. Brown
LM. Whitehouse

CF. Evans (10/09/11 - 14/04/12)
