what are your views on him

i think he would be a good player at the club and could come in some use to promotion

I think we are ok there at the minute. Obviously if he is better than Armstrong/Killa there, it would be a good signing.

The back four is not where we are weak. Got Lucky, Morgan, Davis up the middle, Killa and Armstrong on the left and Geary/Bromby on the right. Plus a bunch of kids for back-up. Seems like onr too many unless somebody is going.

I'm not a fan to be honest. Decent hard working 100%'er with limited ability.

I think he knew his time at Everton was up, he was the stand in left back and although he was fit, we'd still play the centre half (Lescott) at left back instead of him, which I think was pissin Lescott off towards the end, as he is the best centre half at the club.

He can definitely do a job for a mid tabled prem side and I suppose that's where you are aspiring to be. He can also deputise at left midfield too where he's had a few decent games.

I really wish him well.........and I really wish we make Wigan an offer for Evertonian Leighton Baines.

I wouldn't say that Killa or stretch are natural full backs and to be honest neither of them filled me with great confidence last season. Stretch is good going forwards but average deffensively whilst Killa looked out of his comfort zone at left back (lack of fitness may be a factor).

I would expect Naysmith and Armstrong to contest the left back spot and perhaps the two will be rotated dependant on the opposition.

I think that Killa was by far the best we had at left back, however, my point is that if Naysmith takes the left-back position it displaces two good players. If he can play mid-field, pass and tackle, then we are filling a gap. Monty and Legs can chase and tackle but can't pass straight 9 times out of ten.

United have completed the signing of Scottish international Gary Naysmith from Everton for £1million on a three-year contract - in a separate deal that took Phil Jagielka to Merseyside for £4million.

Naysmith, 28, moves to Bramall Lane after six-and-a-half years at Goodison Park, and he is looking forward to working under the United's new management duo, Bryan Robson and Brian Kidd.

Gary said: "Coming to play under Bryan Robson makes me really excited and, after speaking with the Chairman, I am keen and happy to be here. I was always there or thereabouts at Everton but they had several established players and if you were out injured it was difficult to force your way back in.

"I spoke to Phil Neville about working with Brian Kidd and he had nothing but praise for his training methods and he was sure I would enjoy it immensely. Both Robson and Kidd are born winners."

The versatile Scotsman feels he has joined a club that is destined to be in the top flight again.

He continued: "I am obviously looking forward to coming to here. I haven't been playing enough at Everton. This is a big club, who have done very well in recent years and were unlucky in the Premiership last season.

"I have no problems dropping a division, as I feel we will only be here for one year. We have a great squad with plenty of experience, so we should be aiming to get promoted at the first attempt."

Gary is also looking forward to the prospect of playing against unfamiliar opposition in the Championship and added that he will play wherever needed as the Blades look to bounce back to the Premiership at the first time of asking.

He said: "The chance to visit stadiums and play against teams I haven't played against before is another challenge.

"I have had serious injury problems in the past, although they are behind me now and I have been fully fit since December 2006. I will play anywhere, although I see myself as a left-back. I can play in midfield, though ,and did on occasions for Everton last season."

i think its a decent signing, hope he proves his worth, we need players who have played in the premiership, it gives good knowledge on the ball and helps the team

Naysmith has never had pace. I've seen him been torn to shreds by the likes of Aaron Lennon for pace. We initially played Naysmith at left midfield when he first signed but it became more and more obvious he was never gonna make it there so he was reverted to his better position at LB. IMO I think he's good for the league you're in as he's an ok player, but I could see players like Paul Ifill causing him a problem or two...he's never been 'good' to be honest but he's alright...always seems to play well for Scotland...you should get a few decent years out of him. He is decent in the air. Best performance I've ever seen him play was this year's Goodison derby. Bit of a mixed bag in terms of ablities.
