Higdon injury prone,Done injured, Adams and DG with limited experience leaving us with one other striker again with limited experience. Can't see how signing a proven striker at this level and above can be classed as a ridiculous decision.
We have Flynn, Murphy, Baxter, McNulty, Done, JCR, Higdon, Diego, Adams and Woolford at the club already who can play at least one position in a front three, and most of these can easily play in a front two. I'm probably missing out a couple of people as well. Sharp does not offer a significant improvement over the best of whichever two in a 4-4-2 or three in a 4-3-3 you want to use, and we clearly do not need any depth.
If we were in for a player who'd started his career at, say, Charlton, had a couple of good seasons at Tranmere when we were still in the Premier League, returned to Charlton and did little, spending time on loan at Leyton Orient instead, who he then joined permanently and did alright at, before making a move to Wigan and not breaking through, spending most of his time in the last two years on loan at Ipswich and Millwall doing nothing, most of us would say "why are we signing this journeyman rubbish and not a centre back". Suppose bladey bladeness trumps common sense
