Yes, but it is different.

Bray was exciting, but ultimately he was:

A. Mid-season. Which is always different. Especially when our auto hopes were already gone.
B. In a position where we had some decent cover
C. In a position which doesn't as directly affect games.

We've been lacking a goal scorer for literally years, and Sharp is the first potential regular scorer we have had for a long long time. I'm talking 15+, which no other striker has been capable of doing before. I'm not saying he will, but he is capable!

As good as Bray is, it's a scorer we've been pleading for for years.
Sharp hasn't scored over 15 goals in the league since 06/07.
I know there's a lot of reasons for that, but that's a long time ago.

He scored 15 league goals in both the 2009/10 and 2010/11 seasons, then 19 in the 2011/12 season!
Sorry, you're right.
Over 15 goals for one team then since 06/07.
I forgot his previous goals that season before his Southampton switch.

blader, in 2012 we had Evans who bagged a hatful of goals, so not as you've suggested, that we've been without a regular goalscorer for a long, long time. It may feel that way, but it's been just over 3 years. The absence of Done's name suggests that he's an afterthought, when in fact he looks as if he could continue his form since he signed for us. Assuming Sharp signs (at the time of writing he's not officially a Blade) he'll be someone who needs to do what he's never done in a red and white shirt, that's score regularly. If he signs I hope he shows he's worth the time and energy that's been invested in securing his signature, seriously, I do, we could do with more than one guy who has that instinct for goals.

2009/10 - 15 league goals for Donny and 1 for us in the Carling Cup
2010/11 - 15 league goals for Donny and 1 in the FA Cup
2011/12 - 10 league goals for Donny and 9 league goals for Southampton

Not sure why it matters that all his goals in one season weren't for the same club?!?

It doesn't matter, that was my excuse for missing it. That wasn't me playing it down.
Buuuuuuut, I do keep saying "more than 15" each season. Someone above said "15plus", so I just noticed that he'd only got the "plus" once since 06/07.
Look, like I said there's reasons that he didn't get more. He's had his personal issues, his injures, and at times he's been at the highest level too, all I'm saying is that he's not nailed on to get 15PLUS with is either.

The chip on my shoulder comes from the fact that paired with a striker like Higdon all season I believe Mcnulty would do just as well as Sharp would.

So that's all we need? No contingency for injuries? I don't think you can ever have enough goal scorers in a team.

Not at all. I just don't think Sharp is any better than what we've got. We've Done and Diego as contingencies too.
I just think for the wages he'll be on it'd be better spent somewhere else, especially when he's so similar to sparky.

Maybe, and time will tell. Don't think McNulty has really proved that much in a red and white shirt as yet, but that could be down to interfering and mind games from the last regime, he certainly has the ability. Sharp might come good this time might not, if anyone can get the best from him I reckon it would be Adkins, so if he wants him in that would be enough for me.

For me it is, can't get that excited over the signing of a full back!
Hope Billy does it this time Adkins has always got the best out of him just hope he's not another Clive Mendonca ...you may scoff at this quote but i reckon he will make him captain .

Still suggests to me that Done's injury is worse than most feared. If that's the case then the Sharp decision is a reasonable one - unless Done is being sold then I would question that decision, if so.

If we play with width and work on creating chances with Higdon plus one as a striking pair then we will have a chance of scoring a lot of goals - Che is looking good pre season - it's the dearth of goal mouth action that pissed me off last season. Not even trying in the first half then chasing the game when we shot oirselves in the foot (again). If we start pummelling the opposition and continue to do that then we have a good chance. Delivery of Woolford makes a difference to the chances that Higdon and the defenders can get on to

Given Adkins said he'd ideally like a centre-half to be captain, I'd be very surprised. He did also say we might have a "club captain" so could be that. Though highly unusual for a club captain to not be a keeper.

Not sure but I hope NA is buying Sharp to compliment and to go alongside Done. Nothing suggests to me that Done's injury is any worse than a couple of games out at the start of the season, same for him being sold, nothing has really gathered any pace with prospective clubs since the initial surge. Unless i've missed any news of course, which is quite possible as i've not really been keeping up with the transfer lark for a while.

"Sky sources" today say that he flew home to finalise his move to us.

I'll trust sky over the Yorkshire Post and Star any day.

Only thing I'd trust Sky sources over is fat drunk guy in the pub who's friends' son's cousin knows Leeds' groundsman, and I'm praying to god that their usual inaccuracy is consistent here

SKY Sports news are too careful these days. If it comes across the ticker saying "SKY Sources Understands".. Then it's right.

They don't want egg on their face so don't put their neck out too early.

The only time the tend to get things wrong is on Transfer Deadline day when rumours are flying in all directions.
