“Never rated him. He’s better off up there with his fellow degenerate northerners”
I'll take that as a decent recommendation from a soft southern nonce.
No rave reviews for sure but I'd say more were saying quite postive stuff or that he was average in that division. Given he's now dropping a league that could become above average. I'm trying to stay positive on this and trust the new manager as we honestly could not have got anyone better for this job. Some negative views there, not very encouraging.
I think you have to cut through the level of bitterness shown to most players when they leave a club, especially when said club has just been relegated.
We're not signing a world beater by any means but we are signing a player coming off 2 full seasons in the Champ able to play in a number of positions including right midfield - one of the weaker areas of the current squad.
It doesn't detract from the need to recruit to other priority positions but he's certainly an improvement on what we current have down the right.

Personally I think that's the missing ingredient, we've been crying out for a nice fella for years“He was an honest player so credit where credit is due, never sulked when out of the team. The goals he scored last game of the season before last against Bournemouth and away to Fulham will be remembered. Good luck to him. One of the nice guys in football.”
Are we talking about Woolford? Collins? Doyle? Sorry, but we need/deserve better than the usual 'can do a job'-type.
I know, next time we need a new manager, let's appoint "Millwall fans".
However, sadly I think we'd blow the entire budget on cheap coke and white trainers.
Could work...
We certainly wouldn't tolerate any uncommitted performances...and we'd make the steel city derby even more intense.

I had to look that up...
Now that's very northern...a knock off version of coca-cola!
I've always had a bit of a soft spot for Millwall... Though I really wish you could get rid of the brain-dead meat-heads that keep splashing the coke all over the trainers before acting up like teenagers.
Without looking it up, its a Peter Kaye line from Phoenix Nights
Yeah three sets of idiots beating shit out of each other up on Division Street would be a bit more intense... as for the actual game, I've really never seen much difference between fans of clubs like SUFC, Millwall, Portsmouth, Birmingham, Cardiff for actual intensity of support during games (especially derbies).... that, the working class roots, and a couple of Lions supporting mates is why I've always had a bit of a soft spot for Millwall... As the book by Micheal Calvin says...our fanbase is about 25 years behind the rest of the league's fan demographic.
Cant see that ever happening while we remain a knock about club off the Old Kent Road.
Nothing has ever diluted our support in the way other clubs, including the ones you mention, have been diluted.
We've never had any sustained success, bouncing around the Championship & League One...
Therefore we've never attracted floating middle class fans on the post Euro 96 buzz...or lots of nice families from the suburbs...or Office types who like to be part of the 'footy banter'...
