Used to like Hen and Chickens, The Cannon then down to the Bull and Mouth and up the Wicker for a walk on the wild side.

Is the Barrel still open on London Road? Had some good nights down there doing the Friday pub crawl, more women within my pulling range down there.

Just catching up on this thread and reading about maltese Joe and Nether Edge Hall, nice bloke he was I remember him helping to clean me up after an ex girlfriend whacked me over the head with a pint pot.

Cut my teeth in the Nether Edge then I went in Turn Ups later.
Samantha's didn't think that would your bag bit of a northern soul club I used to be into that seen.
But having said that I saw that Angelic Upstart gig at the Marples .
Student Power I remember that number
I used to tag along to those gigs just for the crack.
Samanthas was a private party ,some girls 16th. everyone got shit faced and one girl had to be taken off in an ambulance through drink. Northern soul was deffo not me ,used to have trouble on the bus going past the KGB on my way to town regularly in my bondage trousers ,Brigade Rossi T shirt and dockers.

Many moons ago the (former?) landlord of the Hen (a couple of decades before he became a landlord) nearly took a battering from (IIRC) Tranmere Rovers players after a game at the lane. He was arseholed and was making wanker signs through the windows of their coach. Don't even think he likes football tbh, but came to a few games.

Bit of a knob tbh (and a thieving cunt).

I moved on from on from Northern had a period into Roxy,Bowie, Iggy Pop,then returned to the Jazz Funk Scene then to the early Dance, House thing,
I had a good few mates who were into the punk stuff I've seen a lot of the bands always a good vibe.
Had a pretty good run enjoying myself then got married:)

Turn ups was my local along with the Brincs :). First nightclub for me was Samanthas which became Stars ,next to the silver blades. Also had good nights at Sinatras ,spoilt by that pig Stevie Splash and Kikis ,you could always trap in there.

Yes same here, I was 14, couldn't get in so I said I was 16 but wouldn't be drinking, doorman took pity and let me in, I had 4 pints and was hammered

Monday was 10p a drink night at Sammies early seventies.
All nighters every other Friday initially but no alcohol. Soul nights sunday or wednesday.

Sharpy and Mick Cardwell country
Mick Cardwell's family (6 brothers in total) lived a few doors away from my grandmothers in Stonelow Road. Have known Mick since I was little, he told me 20 years ago that he used to go to Blades matches in the 1970s (dont remember seeing him at matches) but I didnt really expect him to be one of the most feared Blades fans until I read Ronnie's book. Like his older brother Jeff (MacDuff), he stopped going to matches when he got married (Jeff got married on the day we beat Watford 3-0 in 1971 and I think Mick got married in 1978)

Froggats from Townend/Base Green? Waterfall, would that be Glen (nickname Wats), remember him if so.
Froggatts were off Jordanthorpe originally from Woodhouse,
Wats also lived on the Jordo but used to live on the Valley went to Gleadless Valley School.
I see Wats at the dogs regular.

As well as Turn Ups at both Nether Edge and Commercial Street and I think Fannys at Owler Bar.
Turn ups on the Edge only opened till one used to go there if I was grafting Saturday morning.
Fannys ex Five Ways the smallest club ever.

Steve Cardwell used to do the doors in Sheffield sound lad
Graham is a pig fan say no more

A couple of other clubs from back then. 'Isabella's' on the corner of Matilda Street/Eyre Street (now a chicken takeaway). Right at the back of my mind is 'Tramp's' but I can't remember where it was. (I typed Tramps night club sheffield into Google images and a few pictures of Ched came up. Honest!) Also, what was that club on Moncrieffe Road, Nether Edge?
Are you thinking of Scamps, which used to next to the Hofbrauhaus on the corner of Eyre street and Matilda Street. I finished up in there on my Stag night in 1975 via Stonehouse, Buccaneer and Wapentake.

You must have been well pissed because The Buccaneer shut in 1973
