You do think in this day and age even if it is fact by the time he actually gets around to signing we have all known for about six months and its not really a big deal. I preferred the days when I opened the paper or heard it on the radio and there was some element of surprise.

If true I will expect Done going to Wigan is the next rumour to gather pace (well at least more pace than Billy)

I'm guessing the part ex is money to us? It must be, billy is 3 years past being worth 1.5m, either way... I'd tell leeds to go fuck themselves!
There's better goal scorers out there that wouldn't cost us our best player.

I do agree with you in terms of there's other options out there. But if a team came in with a good offer I also think Murphy is replaceable.

Murphy is the best player in the division.
Replaceable? Of course he is,but with a better player?very doubtful.
You don't sell your best players if you're favourites for promotion.
I'd tag him for 5million and put them off.
 
But that would be the Blades Way, wouldn't it?
 
The issue of whether signing Sharp is beneficial to SUFC shouldn't be confused with the matter of retaining the services of Murphy. Adkins has already gone on record as mentioning that last season's stats show that Murphy's contribution to our attacking threat is significant. Recently I've witnessed a resilience amongst our board to resist the impulse to sell our best players (the matter of Maguire has been discussed in depth), so good attackers are thin on the ground and we currently have players like Murphy and Done who will do well this season, and then we have Adams who shows potential, McNulty who, if he can learn to work to his strengths, may become a goal poacher for the Blades, De Girolamo who is yet to decide where his future lies, and whoever shows promise from within our academy. Top that off with the likes of Higdon, who, if he's willing to put in the hours in training, might still offer something more than the cameo he's delivered so far, add in any new signing that Adkins might make, and we have forwards who will cause problems to any team in this division.

Where Sharp figures amongst the above players puzzles me, but it's for Adkins to make that call. If Billy does sign and finally make his mark then it'll be a great move for the player and the Blades. What I don't want to hear is that Sharp is coming and that it's dependent on Murphy becoming a Leeds player. That would be an act of craziness that makes a mockery of the noises that emanate from United. There are better players than Sharp that we should be considering, just as Murphy is proven, and better than most at this level. If anyone's in doubt, why would teams from a higher division want to sign him?
 
I despair at times with some Blades fans, honestly the thoughts that Murphy or Done could be easily replaced is just laughable. The thoughts that Billy feckin Sharpe is a better player than either of them is just plain ridiculous. £1.5m + Sharpe for Murphy is a piss take, I know every player has a price but what a lot of Blades fans don't realise is that price is yet another season in league one or lower, you would think after years of selling our best players and our resulting league standing the penny would drop ................ seems not in S2, do you really need to give certain people more ammunition for the Bladey blade agenda FFS :confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:
 
I'd let Murphy and Done go for the following prices:

Murphy - £5m
Done - £2.5m

Less than that and off you, match it and we have banked £7.5m to go out and buy some Championship standard players, whilst they can consider themselves a set of fools.

So which championship players would you go for and would they be willing to drop to league one and take a cut in wages ? And don't say Billy (no resale value, slow, non scoring) Sharp

Do you think they'd need to take a wage cut if we had £7.5m in the bank? I'm not sure which players to sign obviously because I know nothing about that but I do know that with £7.5m plus our current resources, we could sign at least 3/4 key players that are either playing at a higher standard currently, or deserve to be (for example a L1 player that earned himself a reputation last year)

Hence why for the last four seasons we have been in league one ............
1, Some players might not want to come here
2, Clubs might not want to sell their players
3, If clubs know we have cash in the bank the price for their players will be inflated
When will people learn you buy good players who are better than what you have before you sell the best presently at the club doesn't the sale of Maguire last season and McDonald before that ring any alarm bells ? Jesus wept.

I'm struggling to understand what exactly you are talking about. My first post stated the values I would accept for Murphy and Done. You replied asking what I'd do with the money, and I answered more than reasonably, as just about any club in L1 with £7.5m in the bank would go out and try to get better standard players than those of L1 in order to get out of L1, surely. Then you come up with a load of rubbish about something completely irrelevant. The mind boggles.

You don't get it at all do you ? Maguire wasn't replaced, Blackman ditto, McDonald ditto do you see the pattern or do i need to go on ? In fact I'll spell it out for you BEST PLAYERS SOLD DO NOT EVER GET ADEQUATELY REPLACED EQUALS A LOWER LEAGUE POSITION how hard is it to understand ?
