Any chance of guaranteeing me a modest fee of a grand a week DazzlerLets say we give him a years contract on a modest sum of £1000 a week - that's £52,000 a year.
Does anyone think we would get £52,000 if York or Northampton signed him?

Yes I do think someone would sign him for more than that. I also imagine they would take into account that his progression has stalled by 18 months due to his injury. It will be interesting (genuinely) to see what NA thinks of him and how his season pans out here or elsewhere.
Oh and you can keep your Fiat and I shall stick with my 'Bladey' Sheffield Simplex!![]()

Erm, no it isn't just £52k, Dazzler, since there's plenty of other costs of employment to consider, including NI, medical and professional insurance, training gear, back to front caps, ragu and silly hair cuts.
But I get your point- however poorly constructed, this time
pedants of the world should strive to irritate each other
Well that only strengthens my point....If total costs of employing him are £100,000 (say) that makes it even less of a good deal to give him a contract as there is no way on God's earth anyone would pay £100K for a forward who can't score goals in Division 4.
Exactly..... not a chance of him going back to either of them unless it is a loan, I don't know how much he is on at present but maybe improved terms could be a good deal lower than £52k maybe even half that, worth it to make sure we do get compo should a Championship or above club take a gamble on him. All this goes out of the window though if his move to Juventus is any more than just a dream, Diego may well be better off staying put and getting his head down and working as hard as he can if he wants first team football it really is up to him where is career goes now.Lets say we give him a years contract on a modest sum of £1000 a week - that's £52,000 a year.

Probably his agent or his dad, if there was anything in it there would be a queue of clubs waiting at the door rather than just Juve and SunderlandAll this Juventus stuff is bollocks is it not?
If they really wanted him, they could easily outbid United by offering him something that, for them, is money down the back of the sofa and I am sure DDG would snap their hands off.
Who raised this fantasy?
Whether he does or doesn't, you have to be a very established and highly valued player to tell a manager 'that's not my position'. Think Scholes said that to Fergie when he was a kid and was being played up front? Or did he just think 'I'm in the first team, fucking great' and get on with doing what he was asked to do by his manager.I get the impression that NA won't put full backs at centre back, and generally avoids the "that's not my position" argument by playing players in the correct position to begin with.
It was in the Daily Mail a few months ago. Headline was probably something like 'Juve move for Diego opens door to immigrants'All this Juventus stuff is bollocks is it not?

Couldn't agree more. Surely they'd want him over in Italy sorting out his accommodation etc and settling in before the start of the pre-season.Fair enough, but it makes fuck all sense. If they did want him, they would have him by now.
Is this Juventus stuff as real as Leeds' interest in Monty? It was funny how he never got his dream move to his boyhood club, making him possibly the only player we managed to "fend off 'interest'" in, more's the pity.
He scored 4 goals in his first 8 games for York but don't let facts get in the way of whatever it is you're trying to achieve.Well that only strengthens my point....If total costs of employing him are £100,000 (say) that makes it even less of a good deal to give him a contract as there is no way on God's earth anyone would pay £100K for a forward who can't score goals in Division 4.
Adkins is no fool, he'll know the stats. He scored 4 goals in his first 8 games for York but don't let facts get in the way of whatever it is you're trying to achieve.
I think he is still 19No point in rehashing old ground with clough.
But they way I see it Diego clearly had no future under clough, if you fell out with him you were out with no coming back. Just look at Collins etc so he didn't really have much choice but to want to leave. Lots of young players were getting on the bench and opportunities but he wasn't.
Don't see how anyone can argue against a clean slate and seeing if he can get back to what he was showing pre injury. He's only 20 after all.

Well it looks like he'll get his chance to prove he's worth it but how will he react if NA tells him he's not ready yet ?
yeah man utd once laughed at a kid called Paul Pogba who said the sameSurely he will just move to Juventus to get some first team action?

didnt we offer Diego a contract?Well Man U wanted to keep him didn't they?
They probably laughed at thousands of others who actually did fuck all. If he is good enough for juventus then he should have shone against Walsall but instead he looked crap. I would sincerely love him to stay and become the player some believe him to be but if he goes I really couldn't care lessyeah man utd once laughed at a kid called Paul Pogba who said the same![]()

Does anyone know why he asked to have his loan with York cancelled and then went to Northants?
