So has he accepted his deal with us now he is not off to Bournemouth or are we yet to offer him a new one under Adkins, pending his performance in a trial?

He would get my support as soon as he played for the first team and was succesfulWouldn't be surprised if we still didn't sign him. At the end of the day what's Diego's options? He didn't do anything special at Northampton or York in League 2, dismissed by Clough due to his attitude, and then he's reportedly been turned down from Bournemouth.
I'm not saying no football league club would have him because I'm certain they would. But if he wants to play for a big club and wants first team football where is he going to find that in the Championship?
I wouldn't be surprised to see Diego sign for somebody like Blackpool who are dieing for players and would guarantee him a game every week at a semi decent level.
The excitement seems to have gone from Diego for us Blades and I think he will find it very hard to win us back over.

Just out of interest, how many goals will he have to score to become a legend, 100, 150, 200?
Or these days for him to attain that status will it take just a dozen or so goals?

My understanding is that he might already have signed.
Ches Vegas were interested in him (I think his dad has a box there?) and he was all set for off if NC stayed. Apparently right from the start Cloughie didn't like his hair/pink boots/personalised plate etc etc etc. They just didn't get on and he wanted out but is now keen to see how things work out under NA.
My 'source' is not Mrs NA or Mal Brannigan so it could all be bollocks, but then again......
Name the last united player to score 50 goals??
Beattie didn't reach that but has got a somewhat "legendary" status.
P.S. I think the answer is Dane Whitehouse.
Bert has often wondered why the club hasn't melted down the statue of Joe Shaw in the car park and replaced it with one that depicts a true legend like Beattie.
Not forgetting the Sheffield Boys captain who signed for Man. Utd in the seventies - whose name for some reason escapes me - who was expected to be the best thing since sliced bread. I'm sure others can produce more names.
.
That's him. Knew it was Ray but couldn't remember his surname. Thanks.
Great points Sean, and of course I knew Silent would beat me to Ray Storey, of whom I had the dubious pleasure of watching him drink himself senseless in the Top Rank on many Saturdays in the 70's. This whilst he wasca young pro at Man U.
Interestingly, Ray was Tommy Docs 1st signing when he took over at Derby, however, the die was cast and superb schoolboy footballer that Ray was, he drifted into obscurity.
Platts and Higgins are similarly later versions of Storey. I've met Alex on a couple of occasions and he seemed a nice well balanced lad, however his dad had the 'my lad is a world beater' syndrome and every club that released Higgins were tossers and didn't know a player when they saw one. On a side note, his dad was a dirty fucker in his playing days, and never listened to good advice. Higgins was one of the FA schoolboy elite squad at 14 and became bezzy mates with Scott Parker (still to this day), how their careers contrasted...
As others have intimated, the evidence is all there, Diego may or may not make a fist of it in the game, but better apparent talents than him have spluttered and farted into oblivion... Let's hope he comes good somewhere...
