Colchester United at home.

According to some sources.
Either that or someone's gone to a lot of trouble to try pull a fast one,

Not a bad start if it is true.

If you're aspiring to win the league, it doesn't matter who we play, or when. We need to finish above 23 other teams, and we play each of them twice. No fixture is exciting, they're all the same to me!

I agree. We're playing a fucking third division team, home or away. There's only one attraction in this league and that's the Blades.

The expression "good if true" always amuses me. So, if it's not true it's bad?... Totally meaningless.

Not really.

If someone told me I had won £1 million on the lottery, it would be good if true. If it were not true it would be bad because I would be disappointed.

Yes but, in practice, whenever the phrase is used the 'if true' is always implied in any event. It has to be for the phrase to make any sense. Watch out for future examples...

But it could be that if it's not true, then nothing has changed, for better or worse, so the equilibrium remains. And only if the described event happens, does something good result from it. It rarely does though.

Yes, but in the practical application the phrase is invariably used in circumstances where 'if true' is spoken for.

Of course it's bollocks anyway. It would only be good if we went on to win the match! That's what would be good. There is absolutely nothing inherently good about playing Colchester, I think we can agree.

Disagree, 'if true' suggests there is an element of doubt on the part of the person conveying the information. If, 'if true' is removed it would be a statement of fact.

Statements can be 'good if true' and 'bad if true'.

I am too good to be true. That is simply a statement of fact......

That made me laugh.

think technology has moved on a tad since 2009 , the clockwork computer they had has been up graded since this was taken at fa headquarters at lytham

hard to believe an i phone i6 is more powerful than this

Yawn

It is feck all to do with computing power, since even in 2009 it only took a laptop 5 to 10mins to produce.
The article tells you about the planning and why they are produced well in advance of publication day.

the article is 6 tears old , all of skys contracts have changed as have all of the champions league and the FL72
The reasons given in the article can all be monitored in a night now with modern protocols, theres applications that can address all they bring up now, clashes in fixtures 3 4 day rest periods etc are easily sorted

the article says it takes weeks to do the preperation ie local clashes , but the telling line after all that is this
"Todd estimates he has between 30-45 minutes to scan the fixtures and point out any concerns that might impact negatively on supporters."
the final draft is produced an hour before the release.
