Just the five, then? :D I'd agree with the gist of that, but it's something any team in our division could say.

Good point but considering how much we've spent it is a travesty for the owners.

2 central defenders, one quality striker and a backup striker, a dominant midfielder. Essential I'm afraid...and exactly what we wanted last summer!!

Im still not sure where this idea that the prince is loaded comes from. I'd be surprised if he's got significantly more wealth than the McCabe family.

£3million available should Adkins require it I have been told. If accurate that is a clear statement of intent from HRH and co.

Here is the transfer Kitty it doesn't look that good to me, the new turf looks good though

It's not how much he's got that matters, it's how much he invests and how it's spent.

Kevin McCabe had stopped spending and drew the line at something over £50m and who can blame him.

If the prince puts his £50m in then let's hope he picks better managers, that's the key. all the money in the world would be wasted if we have a series of poor managers and up to now he has one failure out of one with another just up and running.

Is that another £50 million on top of the £10-20 million he's already put in?

I'm not sure on who's got the most wealth but i'm pretty sure that we wouldn't be in a position to get Adkins if we only had McCabe in charge.

Oh absolutely, and I'm glad we've got him. But Blades talking about him as if he's got hundreds of millions to waste on us isn't helpful or accurate.
The 17 billion is laughable.

Where's this 17 billion quote come from? Infact, where is this 17 billion:)

Utter horseshit. He's not worth over £200 million, and the 18bn is the family wealth which he's the umpteenth nephew twice removed on his motherside.
He's worth about the same as McCabe. But two is better than one and McCabe has bank rolled us single handedly before

Agreed 100%, and they've probably put in at least 20 million since he joined, which shouldn't be sniffed at.

I definitely get the feeling McCabe has found a lot more interest in the club again now. Could be he's willing to (or already is) put money in again.

Jeez so it is £20 million now , do we add a million to the investment everyday? Some of the claims on here are just plain laughable works of fantasy. If the prince has indeed put in £20m he must be feeling suicidal after seeing absolutely no return or significant improvement since investing his first pound coin.

You seem to be saying we have to cut back but I don't see any reason why we need to, or why Adkins would join us if that was the case.

I've already said many things are different this season to last in financial terms, since Clough gambled high and lost. If you cant see that, fine.

We are going around in circles and our views on sustainability are very different.

I think Adkins is more aware of things than some.
“We have a lot of players under contract and we’ll have to give them the opportunities to keep moving forward.

“We’ll work with the owners because we all want the same thing, but we are mindful of the limitations of Financial Fair Play and SCMP. We will have to be wise in what we’re going

“We also have to work under the restraints of the club,” Adkins added.

I said they've put in £20 Million. I'd suggest if you look at what it's costing the club to stay in league one, supplementing the wage budget, transfer fees, paying off two managers, new pitch you won't get much change out of it.

I think we are going to get out of this league only be using extreme methods. It needs to be really high investment this season or they may as well not bother. This is the season to invest big with the feel good factor around the new manager. If they don't & we don't get promotion the fans will be on Adkins back come end of next season similar to how they were with Clough, the Prince may well lose patience and possibly leave and we could be facing disastrous times. Let's see if the board think that way, or if they think they can have the best of both worlds and just because we are SUFC and have Adkins as manager, the job is done and we can put our feet up and stroll to victory without spending any money. I can assure them there are many teams we used to score against for fun in this league that are streets ahead of us already and we're barely into pre-season. Go hard or go home this season for me.

Does the Prince or Jim Phipps tell you how much they invest and when they do so ? Thought not, your £20m figure is just a wild guestimate I would say half that figure would still be a fair bit optimistic considering the money that came in from the cup runs and the Maguire sale. But then again what do I know probably about as much as you but I'm not the one making wild guesses on how much the Prince has invested. Take out the transfer fees for Brayford ,Done and Coutts which will be more or less covered by the Maguire money and we haven't paid out much for players in fact a fair few have come here on free transfers.

I disagree with your fees and also it assumes that they play for free.
Big Jim and McCabe have already confirmed they are subsidising the club to the tune of 10 million a year so yes they have told me in a round-a-bout way.

So the £20m you claimed had been invested was actually at the most £10m according to Jim Phipps, thanks for clearing that up FB.

It's my recollection that Phipps said around March that the prince had put in £12m which seems a credible figure.

We have Done and Brayford on our books, and also Coutts and Freeman within that figure and surely we don't need to match such investment just to gain promotion.

There is the loan system to utilise and we should only need 4 or 5 new players after moving away say 5 or 6 existing players and therefore saving wages.

Adkins has the experience to manage a budget and whatever that might be it will surely be the best in the league, much like Clough had.

I'd be very disappointed if we went back to the boom and bust mentality of the past, I thought we'd gone beyond that with the Prince.
But given our history I can see why you think it may happen again. If it does, it will be the club going round in circles.

You know what £10 million multiplied by two owners equals don't you metal?
Plus of course it's more than that now as they've been in 18-19 months plus sacked another manager and backroom team and there's the pitch.
Keep digging son.

I doubt he's invested £20m so far. I think he would of expected to at least be in the championship by now if he had and if he is not worth more than £100m i am surprised he hasn't walked yet because at that rate he'll be broke in five years time.
