Hi.

This may seem antagonistic, especially as a first post, and from an Owl.

However, If any rebuttal is going to be made, I guess it will be done most vehemently and factually from a blades fan.

This article seems to suggest that the blades themselves have played an ineligible player during last season.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Cheers.

It has been discussed before on here, and I don't think we actually came to a steadfast (ho ho!) conclusion... I'll see if I can find the link.

I should imagine that something as obvious as that would have been pointed out by the official channels by now were there something wrong... but I'm open to confirmation.

And of course the piggies are so clean in the past!

Bronco Layne and Peter Swan anyone??

I've seen in a couple of places that it is the registration that is limited to two clubs per season. Sunderland and Sheffield United held his registration over the season.

And in that time period, you can play for more clubs without dispensation. So... Sunderland, Sheffield United and a loan to Derby.

I'd have a look in the FIFA Laws but it's a bit late to make sense of them! :D

Had a quick neb... this is taken from a FIFA article...

FIFA said:
The Committee considered also art. 5.2 of the Regulations, which states
that there can only be one transfer of registration per player in the same sports season in a
period of 12 months. In this respect, the Committee concluded that the loan of a player is
different from a definitive transfer, if the player remains engaged by his former club and if he will
consequently return to this club at the end of the loan period.

So that pretty much backs up what was said above. Two clubs held his registration.

EDIT: That would also explain why Alan Wright has played for Leeds, Cardiff, Donny and Forest this season - the Blades are the only club who have held his registration.

Pitty none of them wanted to take his registration off us. lol

Surely this rule would only apply if his goals would have kept us in the prem ;)

it's doing the rounds all over at the moment, with Hammers and Wednesday fans lording it about how stupid we are for doing it. Some calling for us to start next season on -10 points :)

All very apt really, the most mouthy, two faced lot of people spouting off without having a clue on the subject they are talking about.

Jon Stead was only ever registered with 2 clubs, loans don't count in the instance in which they are claiming. If they did there would be 100's of players playing illegally every season.

Wendy and the Wet Spam bumlicks can both go and stick it where the sun don't shine.
The Hammers are the last club in the land that needs to get all high and mighty about others clubs' players. And they smell of wee.:D

I agree. :D

Well considering it took until April for the PL to come up with a verdict over a transfer that happened in August nothing would suprise me.

As much as I would laugh my arse off if Sheff Utd had fielded an inelligable player, I think it only counts if you've been registered to more than 2 clubs - loans don't count.

and mascherano played for 3 clubs didnt he?

Thats why you call it the 'off' season.

Better to have nothing to talk about then the kind of publicity 21club McBabe is getting your club - that site says you are definately getting probed now too.

No News is good news!

Perhaps we were hiding information aswell.

Despite the transfer fee and the "illegal" clause being published on many websites including the official club sites.

didnt man utd just do the same with the goalie at everton?

The F.A. eventually stated on May 6 that neither Manchester United nor Everton had broken any rules regarding Howard's transfer and that both clubs had confirmed that Everton had been free to play Howard against Manchester United if they had wished to do so

apparently they broke no rules
