I got a phone call asking if i knew who the new Blades Manager was. I said i had no idea. I was told it would be Hughes and they had bet him at 66/1 .
I hope it is not Hughes, but it is from well informed people
To be fair he has gone down to 16/1 from nowhere.

I thought if you are sacked, you are entitled to all the money you would have got paid if you were in the job.

This in law is known as a protected contract it differs from a normal contract you describe. Say I was working on the new iPhone for apple I had access to all their secrets but I get sacked. Apple have a problem as I could run straight to Samsung with everythinmg I know about Apple's technology obviously it would cost them million right? So they pay me to sit at home and not come into work on my full contract. If Samsung got hold the information I knew about Apple it would be obvious it came from me and apple could sue me for lost revenue> weird example i but stick with it Practically all football clubs. runs this way it's to stop a good manager being headdhunted by a larger team. How long did clough have left? when appoint your new manager there's unsually a statement on the length of the last one gardening leave We're paying Irvine until June next year

FYI nothing to do with me taken off BM today, may have been posted elsewhere but not read all threads, just got in from early start

...
Adkins announced tomorrow
Been speaking to someone who has a close relative that works at BDTBL. Phipps has been getting serious grief about Parkinson and more grief about delaying the announcement. All this fan pressure has brought the announcement forward. Adkins is the new manager and we will be told tomorrow. I have no reason to believe this is bull**** so fingers crossed.

I didn't want United to sack Clough.
I would like Adkins to be our next manager.
I would be extremely concerned if the decision was being influenced by Phipps getting grief from fans on social media.

Red herring?

Well I hope so

Very well informed in general. That does not mean everything i get told is right,
I know that a lot of money was placed or attempted to be placed on Hughes at 66/1( bookmakers are wary of this type of market). Money was bet on Hughes - how much is debatable . They will have got so much on at 66/1 . The books then reduce the odds accordingly

please just be a red herring

Hm, failed at Hibs and sacked, also sacked by Hartlepool. But he's just done won the Scottish Cup with Cally Thistle.

Us fans have not had anyone close to who we have wanted since Warnock left. I for one hope they listen to us this time, then they can't and we cant have any excuses.

Sorry, that's wrong.
If you're sacked your contract ends and you are owed all monies due from that contract.

There's no bargaining..ask Nigel Clough...lol..

It depends on the agreement of the severance pay from Reading.

Either

a) it is a lump sum no matter if he would be managing a different club before the his contract at Reading was due to expire

or

b) Reading carry on paying the same wages as he was earning until he finds a new club or until when his contract is due to expire if he still unemployed

If it is a) then it should be no problem with us as long as he is happy with the terms of the contract we offered to him. If it is b) then he probably would be earning less if he agrees to be our manager and lose out £???? difference than if he was still unemployed

all Blades are putting on money and McCabe could could offer to buy him out of his Reading contract if he wants him bad enough

Blades put money on Adkins hence the odds, Superblade puts £1000 on Morgan and his winnings pay for a three year contract.

So you claim your paying Irvine to stop him going to a better club therefore making it easier for WBA to be relegated?

I'd have thought you'd have paid some fucker above you to have him as manager.

Not really. If you were sacked by Apple and went to Samsung spilling secrets you'd be open to a action as most companies have a none disclosure aspect to your contract.
If we sign Adkins he'd need to settle with Reading. They would have to pay less and he's got a new job and contract so it suits everyone. Unlikely to be a huge problem to sort out, and certainly won't effect the appointment. At most a slight delay while the lawyers have a chat.

Blade58 calm down your upsetting me. My take is is a red herring.

Would he have been involved with interviews during the build up to the Scottish Cup? Well?

Oh shit, maybe that's why there's no decision until after the Scottish Cup final.
, oh no, they wouldn't, would they?

Have a like b56. I do find it surprising how many people are now starting to suggest that the board may be being slightly influenced by fans and social media - a point I made several weeks ago but was a lone voice at the time. It's dangerous a tell ya, dangerous.o_O

Does anyone remember how long we had to wait for Clough under the same circumstances?

Derby sacked him on 28th Sept. We appointed him on 23rd October. Not sure when we decided that he would be our next manager and then waited for him to sort out his pay off from Derby

From memory, it wasn't his pay he sorted out Silent, wasn't it his back room staff who were being messed around with their pay off and NC had to sort it out?

This is what I was asking.
Is Adkins still under contract at Reading?

When he left Southampton I believe there was a dispute about monies paid and so he went on 'gardening leave' until it was sorted.

I don't see how Adkins taking a job elsewhere would relieve Reading of the burdon of payment from Adkins contract?

Is that how football manager contracts pan out?

Dont know. If it is Adkins that is the board's first choice then they will have known his situation on the pay off
