If he's comes 2nd or 3rd you still get money back.Gooooooood point kon, best be safe
What does each way mean? Do I win if he doesn't get the job?

Wow, can't lose, thanks for advice kon I've stuffed a grand on all 3 of emIf he's comes 2nd or 3rd you still get money back.![]()
I just don't get betting. Am I right in assuming at 5/4 if I put £4 on a name and he's appointed I get £5 back? Ergo I'm £1 better off?
knockoffnigel's answer was funnier yeeeeeeeeerrrrrrr TwatIn some markets the bookies do set the odds.based on their knowledge, experience, and opinions. The point that's being constantly raised here is that in this market basically if someone no matter how uninformed backs a candidate heavily then their odds reduce automatically regardless of any basis in reality.
5/4 is a ratio: We'll give you 5 if you give us 4 (and you win).
Long run bigger picture (ie if you play for an extended period of time winning and losing) is: We'll give you 8 if you give us 10.
Basically every time you go to a bookie you're giving them a tenner and they're giving you 8 quid in return.
You can argue the details but that's what it amounts to. I think in some cases that figure of about 80% is enshrined in law.
Nope. Just a very naughty boyIs he in fact the Messiah?

The odds also change when Parkinson has told the board he isn't interested so HE puts £100 on AdkinsI have seen this comment quoted all week. It's not that simple either when a week into the betting. At the beginning small bets can change the odds however when someone comes up the rails at the end of the week it's from a 'larger' bet which means someone knows something or has a large amount of money to lose, say 1k. It's now Thursday so if someone goes back into 1/10 this morning it must surely be someone in the know.
* just an opinion based on pure sheffielder logic
but then again we are great at wasting money, nothing would surprise me with mcabe. parkinson isnt worth getting, let alone paying compo to get himAdkins has to be favourite. We have just shelled out God knows how much on Clough and his team on contract sverance. The last thing the management are going to do is pay Bradford or MKD a compensation fee on top.
You also get your £4 stake back - you walk into the bookie's shop with £4 and walk out with £9
not now, Adkins gone 1/2
'But' nothing. There's nowt in that piece that says he won't be coming here. Speaking at an event last Friday, before Clough's departure was announced.
Fingers crossed eh..?
Thought we were going for our first choice and I'd assume Giddings will have some insider contacts?

Understand #sufc have had an approach for #bcfc manager Phil Parkinson turned down.
Lucky old Superblade has been turned down.
Plan B, what's that?Maybe they have 2 or 3 they'd be interested in talking to and Parkinson was one of them (as a back-up in case they didn't land their preferred options - suggest we might have a plan B) so they simply asked Bradford if they would be allowed to speak to him and they said no.
I know - scarey initPlan B, what's that?

Or the fantastic manager picking machine has fucked up again.

To add: #sufc have not met a release clause in Phil Parkinson's contract. He has one more year left, I'm told.
Smoke and mirrors GB, I have it on good authority (well Twatter and D78) Adkins will sign today or tomorrow.Or the fantastic manager picking machine has fucked up again.

We get a new Manager on average every 12 months so we'll just get him next time
This myth about us churning managers annoys me. It's including Morg's, Calver and Speed who for various reasons where only there in a temporary capacity. We get a new Manager on average every 12 months so we'll just get him next time
Some bloke (or blokes) called StrappyWho is it on twitter B56?

LeftMorgan and Carver yes, but Speed was our permanent manager before he left to take the Wales job.
Yeh, as I said "for various reasons" ie he got a call from his country and as judge points out he left and was not sacked so you don't count him in the sacking statisticsMorgan and Carver yes, but Speed was our permanent manager before he left to take the Wales job.
