That article doesn't say anything about preferring an offer from a premier league club as the title implies. I'm sure he knows the best way of getting a job there is by taking a team up and staying there rather than keep himself available in case the Liverpool job comes up!

I despair at the star sometimes.

Interesting video tho. . . I like him. I think he's positive, a good communicator, is very much about team spirit and seems open to learning.

Was it his scunny team that tanked us 0-4 in the game that could have been 12-12?

Posted earlier but didn't follow up. These stats aren't that impressive, are they? (I know stats don't tell the whole story - far from it.) What's the big deal with Adkins?

Four promotions on his CV.

One promotion to the Premier League and three to the Championship (1st, 2nd and through the play-offs).

If we're not bending over backwards to get this guy then we might as well give it up as a bad job.

Micky Adams had loads of lower league promotions under his belt before he came to us, remember. Adkins failed at his last job too, while Adams was on a roll when he came to the Lane.

Managers seem to peak at a certain age. We must all hope that Adkins' best years aren't behind him now.

If someone can be bothered to work his league one stats out that would be worth a look. Saying that 3 promotions in 3 seasons tell us all we need to know about his lg1 record

F*** off to Sunderland then :(

Not sure how you got that from this article. I would say it's more positive depending on when me Phipps made those comments?

Also, do you really think Sunderland would go for Adkins? Don't see it at all myself

This is what I've pieced together from Wikipedia - not all the details but most of what's relevant I think:

Bangor
93-4 Champions
94-5 Champions
96 - departs

The Wilderness/Physio Years
96-06

Scunthorpe
06-07 Division 3 Champions
07-08 Relegated from Division 2
08-09 Promoted from Division 3
09-10 One place (above Wendy) off relegation from Division 2

Southampton
10-11 Promoted from Division 3
11-12 Promoted from Division 2
12-13 Sacked when in Division 1

Reading
13-14 Sacked (After a 6-1 defeat by Birmingham)

To counter the promotions there are: a relegation, a near-relegation and two sackings in his last two jobs. Just putting the other side.

So I suppose what we're looking at is he perhaps maximised achievement at Scunthorpe, and when given resources at Southampton took them up to Division 1.

Over all looks like a good candidate on paper...but not the Messiah.

We could reasonably expect him to take us up (but would he need two seasons) and then stabilise in Division 2.

Apparently Karl robinsons family and him are I. The hotel this morning.

Although I would love this appointment, I just can't see him leaving mk Dons without having a crack at the championship first, unless we are going to chuck some real money at it this time.

You appear to have an agenda, and not a very positive one :(

His final match in charge of Reading was a 6-1 loss to Birmingham that left them 10 points off the play-offs.

How is this not a fair (and positive :)) assessment? Is he in fact the Messiah? Will he unquestionably take us up first time?

Aisi what'll restrict us if and when we get to Division 2 is money (of course). I'm presuming Scunthorpe finished where they did due to lack of resources. Hopefully that will be less of an issue for us. We can reasonably be expected to stabilise in Division 2 but I'd've thought we will need a big cash injection to make it to Division 1; competing against similarly ambitious clubs and resourced clubs, parachute payments etc.

Probabley right, just trying not to set myself up for a fall, think my first choice from his record NA or KR both good choices but can see their agents telling them to go for Sunderland job delaying our appointment.

Re reading my post it reads like f*** off to Sunderland. Should read f***, he's off to Sunderland. Damn them commas, Sorry Nige :)

So hope that's true but doubt it. He's be my number one target if I thought there was a remote chance he's come

Would be my number one choice. A positive style manager in how e deals with people. After that nothing much to chose between Adkins and warburton. Anyone else after that is a non runner as far as I am concerned. Any of these 3 with some cash to spend would be the best thing we could have done, with hats off to the board for making a positive statement of intent for next season

It's not the bookies it's the punters.

I have seen this comment quoted all week. It's not that simple either when a week into the betting. At the beginning small bets can change the odds however when someone comes up the rails at the end of the week it's from a 'larger' bet which means someone knows something or has a large amount of money to lose, say 1k. It's now Thursday so if someone goes back into 1/10 this morning it must surely be someone in the know.

* just an opinion based on pure sheffielder logic
