basically no one's got a fkin clue :D
Probabley includes SUFC board

Tbh whoever they appoint will be a surprise to me, I haven't got the faintest who can do the job that NN fecked up in. Can't see a proven big name, we only got NC cause no one else wanted the job and he was sacked and only lived a short drive away. They might risk an unknown or Scottish manager (that will tighten the collective BDTBL sphyncters), they might surprise us with a foreign manager or they might go for a semi proven manager who knows lower leagues eg JFH.

It's a conundrum

I'll have the angry one, Im always angry

We got Nigel Clough because he liked the club. The way the club was run, the welcome they had got on previous scouting visits, that was one of the reasons they came.

Was there not some suggestion a while back, that big Sam had a use for brown paper envelopes. Must have been something to do with training methods .

He certainly wouldn't have any use for a brand new state of the art playing surface. His view is that all pitches are the same when the ball's sky-high.

he seems to like us if his comments on tv are anything to go by

He needed five attempts to win promotion with MK Dons though. I'd be very surprised if a manager who finally won promotion for one club went straight back down again to manage someone else.

The pressure on our next manager will be huge, knowing he'll surely be sacked if he don't deliver promotion at the first attempt. Are we even bothering to offer more than a 12 month contract?

good point.. although you forget one important point.. his style of play was very watchable and his teams gave 100 percent in every game

Probably posted this before but Robinson was asked by a Blade in the South Stand at Weir's first game why he hadn't joined us. He said the deal was agreed for him to come but Winkelman started playing hardball over compensation and United got cold feet. He said he was "gutted" about it.

Don't think it would be the biggest surprise ever if we ended up with him. His stock is obviously higher now than it was then but, as Bergen Blade says, he hardly fits with United's new "one strike and you're out" approach.

Absolutely disagree. 20k crowds? Great stadium? Zero expectations? Rather than trawl through the usual failures, we must aim higher. Adkins, Warburton or Allardyce would fit. However, given our board's past record, I wouldn't rule out...

...Steve McLaren. :eek::eek::eek:

So you disagree, but I also said Adkins would be a good choice :P

I'm just being realistic. Whilst we are the biggest club in this division by an absolute mile, the positives you mention are outweighed by the pressure and the likelihood of being sacked after 1 year in the job. What do you mean 'zero expectations'? If you mean to what a new manager has to achieve, then there is clearly an utterly absolute expectation, or demand, that the club get promoted.

Allardyce is out of the question. No way will he drop to league one. He has a high opinion of himself at the best of times, no way after this West Ham stuff will he go down 2 divisions. Sorry, but no. Warburton maybe.

Really!? MK have been the most boring team in the league for the past few years. Isn't Robinson very tactically negative, all about passing sideways, keeping the ball, maybe having a shot once every 30 minutes (correct me if I'm wrong, I've not been able to see much league one football recently). I don't really see much difference between him and Clough. I'm sure he would get us up given a few years, but so would Clough (or pretty much anyone with our budget).

His attitude also stinks, very arrogant, thinks he's the next Pep Guardiola. I remember a couple of years ago when MK were about 9th halfway through the season he was in the media saying he thought they were the best team in the league. I really just don't like him...is it just me?

I wouldn't mind a manager who's "very tactically negative". so much so that he delivered a team this year that had a goal dif of 57 and accumulated 91 points:confused:. Maybe he's learned from previous seasons.

Think they've played with a bit more tempo and been more physical this season.

And maybe that apparently slight difference is all it took for them to make that leap? More of the basics certainly needs to be incorporated in our play. Many managers and coaches talk of 'tempo', but it's one of the more difficult things to implement in a squad. Fitness levels need to be first rate, as does a willingness to want to be the best you can be.

No lip service, no half-baked wordery intended to pacify disgruntled supporters, just the above allied to existing technical ability (which one assumes is of a high level) and that takes any team closer to their desired aims.

Spot on here mate ...... they have the right combination of flair, pace, steel and physique for this agricultural division.

I would settle for any one of Warburton / Adkins or Robinson myself.

PLEASE PLEASE football gods ..... just one thing. Don't let McCabe pick the new manager ..... let somebody else do it and we may do allright !!
UTB & FTP

Lots being made of the five years it took KR to get MK Dons promoted but he has always had to operate on a very tight budget and with one of the (numerically) smallest squads in the division.
He attracts some excellent loan players - Prem clubs in particular are happy for their youngsters to play for him - and has some excellent contacts in the game for such a young man. He is also brilliant at developing young players and at man management generally.
He has regularly had some of his best players sold from under him in order to balance the books - for all his personality and apparent enthusiasm, Winkleman rarely puts his hand in his own pocket.
If we are lucky enough to be in with a chance of attracting him to The Lane then grab it with both hands is my view.

The title of this thread is more fitting now given the latest odds.
Thought i would resurrect this thread.

Twatter update....

No mention of KR
That, and also these rumours of KM and the prince speaking to the candidate whilst Clough was still in charge points to the fact that it can't be Karl Robinson as they would have had to ask permission as he was under contract at the time, and this would of been publicised everywhere.

Hopefully this means Adkins will get it but i wouldn't count on anything yet.
